Roll cameras part 2

Presents all round

"Merry Christmas" Barbara smiles as Niamh and Joe appear in the door way with Matthew.

"To you too" Joe smiles happily.

Niamh puts Matthew down on the floor and he crawls over to the presents, he lies down on them as some of them are soft and giggles.

"Oh Matthew" Niamh says as she goes over to him.

She goes to pick him but but Barbara stop him, "don't worry these are for Matthew" she says.

"Oh right" Niamh laughs.

Niamh sits down on the sofa next to Joe who ends up pulling her onto his lap, he wraps his arms around her waist and watches Matthew roll around happily.

"Mum do you want to help him open them?" Niamh smiles happily, Barbara looks up and nods before taking her reading glasses off and kneeling down on the floor.

She helps him open them while Niamh and Joe sit admiring Matthew. Matthew sits up and pokes at a present and Barbara helps him open them.

Matthews face lights up as he sees a soft toy, he squeals and leans forwards and pulls it out the wrapping.

"Oh isn't that lovely Joe" Niamh coos.

Joe smiles happily and strokes her knee. "It's from Chloe" Barbara says.

"Oh she's so thoughtful" Niamh smiles.

She takes some photos of Matthew before he finishes the rest of his presents.

Once finished they get Matthew dressed ready for his day out, "oh beach first?" Niamh says as she puts Matthew in a waterproof nappy.

"Yeah then we'll go for lunch and after we can take him to the outdoor sea pool" Joe says while watching Niamh.

She dresses Matthew and sits him on the bed while she gets dressed herself. "Mama" Matthew smiles happily as he reaches for his dummy.

Joe passes him the dummy and stands up. "Ready?" Joe asks.

"Yep" she smiles.

They head downstairs and Niamh puts Matthew into his pram, "ma!" He squeals while Niamh straps him in.

"What?" She smiles and kisses his head.

Matthew grabs her hair and pulls it, "ow, Matty let mummy have her hair back" she says as she finally frees her hair.

"Niamh?" Joe says as he comes through.

"What? What have you broken?" Niamh asks rather worried.

"My Christmas present isn't much at all, apart from that I may have been looking at houses for us" he says.

"But we've already got a home" Niamh replies while she putting her roman sandals on.

"But to our selves, a family home" he smiles. "So much has happened we need a fresh start" he replies. 

They leave the house and head to the beach, "I'm staying in London, I'm not moving up the country" she says.

"Staying in London of course" he laughs.

Niamh smiles as they make it down the road, they get to the beach and Matthew is fast asleep. "So much for him playing" Niamh laughs.

"Yeah well he'll wake up soon and he can have a play, and then we can go back to your mums for Christmas dinner.

Niamh and Joe sit on the wall smiling at each other, "it's snowing in London right now, hopefully it'll be still there on Tuesday when we go home" he smiles.

"Matthews first snow hopefully" Niamh laughs.

Joe nods and smiles at Niamh as she looks down at Matthew. "Getting big now" Joe smiles as he looks at Matthew also.

"He is, and heavy too" Niamh laughs as she gets up and lifts him into the buggy.

"Little chunk" Joe laughs and stands also.

Niamh laughs and as she does so Matthew stirs a little as she straps him in. Matthew opens his one eye and glances at Niamh before dropping back off to sleep.

Niamh kisses his head lightly and they head back home. Once they get home Niamh gets Matthew out his buggy and puts him on the floor.

He starts to waken and looks around wide eyed. Matthew rolls himself onto his stomach and stretches before getting up and crawling to the tree. "Ma" he squeals as the lights flicker on and off.

Niamh smiles "are the lights pretty baby?" Niamh coos.

Joes laughs as Matthew giggles and crawls back over to them. Matthew pulls himself up on the sofa and squeals.

Niamh smiles, "oi noisy boy" she says.

She gets up off the sofa carefully not to knock him and goes into the kitchen. "Lunch will be ready soon" Barbara smiles.

"Okay, just getting Matthew and Joe a drink" Niamh smiles.

"How's the birthday boy?" Barbara asks.

"Lively as usual, I don't think he knows it's his birthday" Niamh laughs.

"He's only one, Matthew will hardly appreciate it until he's around three or four" Barbara smiles.

Niamh nods as she gets the two a drink and heads back to the lounge.
