Once dressed Joe takes Matthew downstairs and he continues to play while Joe checks the oven.

He gets some veg and cuts them up so they're ready.

Once he's prepared them he goes in and checks on Niamh who's still fast asleep.

He decides to leave her for another half hour or so, so she can get changed too.

An hour later Joe wakes Niamh up as he doesn't want her over sleeping and panicking when her parents her there.

"Niamh... you going to get changed? Your parents will be over in a bit" he says softly.

"Go away, ten more minutes" she moans as she's really tired.

"Niamh it's getting late" he says.

She huffs and sits herself up, "why are you so mean to me" Niamh sighs.

"I can't change the time" Joe chuckles.

Niamh rolls her eyes and gets up and almost trips on the blanket.
Joe holds her arms to keep her steady.

"God... thank you" Niamh says as she looks at him.

"Careful" Joe smirks.

Niamh smiles and then heads upstairs and has a quick shower before changing into some clean clothes.

She walks back down and checks the food again before coming into the living room where Joe and Matthew are.

"Mummy, daddy said Santa is visiting?" Matthew says a little confused.

"Did he? Well he's right" Niamh smiles.

"But he's already been?" Matthew replies still confused.

"And he wants to come and see you" she smiles.

"Because it's my birthday?" He questions.

"Yes, it's a special day" Niamh says. Matthew smiles and carries on playing with his new toys.

About an hour later there's a knock at the door.
"Niamh, it's your parents" Joe says as he peers through the blinds.

Niamh nods and gets up before heading to the front door. She smiles and hugs her mum before taking one look at her dad.

"Hi Dad" she smiles as they make eye contact.

"Hi hunny" he smiles and kisses her on the cheek.

Niamh lets them in and they take their shoes off before heading into the lounge.

"Matthew look who's here" Niamh calls through.

Matthew gets up and looks at them. "Granny... Grandpa!!!" Matthew beams with the cheekiest smile ever.

"Hello sweetie" Barbara smiles as he runs up and she embraces him in a hug.

Matthew grins cheekily at her, "Happy Birthday little man" Brian smiles as Matthew makes eye contact with him.

"Look at what I got, grandpa!" He smiles happily and goes to his new toys.

Brian follows him and stands and looks "looks like your Mum and Dad have been spoiling you again" he says as Matthew picks up some toys.

"Play with me Grandpa!?" Matthew questions.

"Of course I will" Brian smiles.

Matthew smiles happily and brain slowly gets down onto the floor, "Brian you be careful of your back!" Barbara warns as she takes a seat on the sofa.

"I'm careful" he says as Matthew gives him one of his toys.

"What's Dad done , Mum?" Niamh questions.

"Slipped a disk last week" Barbara says and gives brain a dig.

"Dad you need to be more careful" Niamh says and sits down.

Brain rolls his eyes at the both of them and continues to play with Matthew.

"Anyway Niamh you look amazing, defiantly glowing" Barbara smiles.

"Funny because I feel shattered" Niamh laughs.

"Don't blame you" Barbara smirks.

"That boy has got some energy at this time in the morning" she smiles.

"Poor Niamh and I was up at 5am" Joe replies.

"Excuse me so was I" she laughs.

"That's what I meant 'Niamh and I' god woman open your ears" Joe smiles cheekily.

"See... sleep is a precious thing" she blushes.

Brian laughs "Niamh you was exactly the same Christmas 1993... 4am you had you and me and your mother up... poor mother was 7 months pregnant with Niall" Brian explains.

"Grandpa! Play!" Matthew says and smacks his hand.

"And now I apologise" she giggles. "...but the look on his face is always worth it just this once" she smiles.

"You won't be saying that when he's 18 and bringing home girls" Brian smirks.

"Don't worry, it's years and years away yet until that could happen" she laughs.

"It'll come round so quick Niamh, I still have to remind myself you're married with a child and another one on the way" Barbara explains as Joe goes and checks on the food.

"Wow... I guess things come around quick I mean he's 6 already" she says.

Barbara nods and carries on watching Matthew
