Joe then helps Niamh down and out to the car, where Barbara hands Niamh a black bin liner and tells her to sit on it in Barbara's car.

"How's the contractions now" Joe asks as he gets in beside her.

Niamh looks at him and thinks "okay...every 10 minutes right now, I get like two in a row" Niamh replies.

"Won't be long till we get there" he smiles.

"Mum please be careful, don't any hit pot holes" Niamh says to her Mum as they pull away.

"Like I'd do that" Barbara says as she drives to the hospital.

Once at the hospital they get out and Barbara grabs Niamh's bag as they walk towards the maternity wing.

Barbara goes straight to the desk as Joe sits down with Niamh. "Hi, are you here to visit?" The receptionist asks.

"No my daughter's waters have broken, she's having contractions about every 8 minutes or so now" Barbara tells the lady.

"Right, is she registered here? I shall just page a midwife too" the receptionist smiles.

"She's actually registered in London but she's on a visit" she explains.

"Oh right name please?" She asks.

"Niamh McFadden, 17th April 1989" Barbara smiles as she looks over at Niamh.

The receptionist calls for a midwife and they call Niamh in. "Hi Niamh, so how many weeks are you?" The midwife smiles as they walk her to a birth room.

"36 weeks" she tells her.

"Ahh right, so let's get you on the bed Niamh. I'll just do a quick examination" the midwife smiles as she puts some gloves on.

Niamh smiles a little as she lays herself on the bed holding onto her mum's hand.

Another midwife comes in and smiles at Niamh before whispering to the other midwife. The midwife that is examining Niamh leaves the room and the other midwife takes over. "Hi my name is Anya" she smiles.

"Niamh" she smiles back.

"Right Hmm, three centimetres dilates... So Elaine said you was 36 weeks pregnant, your first?" She asks.

"No it's my second actually" Niamh replies.

"Oh right... well can I just get you to fill out some information and is this Dad?" Anya asks looking at Joe.

"Yes it is" Niamh smiles.

Anya smiles at Joe before handing him the notes to fill out on Niamh. "You don't mind my mum being here too?" Niamh asks.

"It's fine, have you got a copy of your birth plan?" Anya asks.

"Joe... you've ....ahhh shit..." she starts but is cut off by a strong contraction.

"Joe ahhh" she cries as she grabs hold of his hand. Joe looks at her and strokes her hand waiting for it to pass.

Niamh does deep breathes as she waits for it to ease. "Erm... yes where was I? Yes... erm the birth plan it's in Joe's emails... I emailed it you... never leave home without it" Niamh smiles as she lets go of Joe and her mums hands, she sits there and strokes her bump.

"Right yes" Joe remembers and gets his phone out.

Joe finds the email and passes the phone to the midwife, "Mum... have you got a hair bobble? My hair is sticking to my neck" she huffs.

"In my bag I think" she says and goes through her bag to find one.

Barbara finds one and ties Niamh's hair up for her. "Right Niamh, it says here you want no pain relief? Is that still the option?" Anya questions.

"I don't think I'll need it" Niamh tells her.

"Well it's here if you Need it, anyway I shall pop back in a bit and see how things are progressing, for now just take it easy" Anya smiles as she leaves the room.

"How long am I going to be here" she huffs as she lays down.

Barbara looks over at Joe who's made himself comfortable and is looking through Netflix on his phone. "I don't know darling" Barbara smiles.

"Matthew was such a long labour" she sighs.

Barbara Just smiles at her and sits herself on the side of the bed and holds Niamh's hand.

"Joe, fancy going to get some drinks?" Barbara asks as he looks up from his phone.

"I'm not thirsty..." Joe speaks.

"But maybe your wife is?" Barbara replies. Joe does what he's told then and goes and gets some drinks.

"I'm so glad your here" Niamh laughs to herself.

"Your Dad was just like Joe when I had you, although your dad almost passed out when you was born, just because a little bit of blood" Barbara smiles trying to keep Niamh distracted.

"Luckily Joe hasn't done that yet" Niamh smiles and rubs her bump.

They both laugh but they amusement is broke by Niamh who stars to moan, "ooo... ahhh, oh god... here it goes again... ahh Mum..." she says and reaches of for her Mum's hand.

"It's ok, just deep breathes remember" Barbara soothes and stands to stroke her head.

Niamh gives a half smile and breathes herself through the contraction.
