Soon after Matthew has left they make plans to head to A&E. "Come on you, let's get going" Joe says and grabs his keys.

They head to the nearest hospital and soon arrive and head into the A&E and Niamh books herself in.

They are told to take a seat and someone will come and collect them shortly.

"They better hurry up" Niamh sighs as she leans against Jor and tries to keep warm as the main doors are open.

"It won't be long" he smiles and leans back into the chair.

She sits there quietly for a while just staring into space and Joe just reads the posters on the walls to pass the time.

Not too long later someone appears from the hallway, "Mrs McFadden?" He calls out.

"That's us, come on Niamh" Joe smiles as he stands.

She looks up at him nervously before slowly standing.

Once standing they walk over to the doctor who takes them through to the cubical for treatment, Joe takes her good hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze.

They follow him into the cubical and are asked to take a seat.

"So Mrs McFadden what can I do for you?" The Doctor smiles as he opens up her files on the computer and add a new document and starts trying.

Niamh places a hand on her little bump and looks at Joe. He smiles encouragingly at her so she explains. "I... I fell earlier today, and I haven't felt any movements since" Niamh admits.

She feels herself getting slightly tearful but holds back the tears. "Okay and how far along are you?" He asks.

"Twenty seven weeks" Niamh replies.

He types on his computer, "would you come and sit on the bed for me" he smiles.

She nods and gets up and then sits herself on the bed, "any movement at all, when was the last time you felt the baby move?" The doctor questions as he rolls her top up.

"About early this afternoon?" She tells him and he nods and gets some of his equipment.

"What are you doing!" Niamh says as she boots upright and watches him. At that Joe walks over to Niamh's side and holds her hand.

"I'm just going to check if your baby is healthy" he explains.

"My baby is healthy I'll have you know" Niamh snaps unintentionally and places her hand protectively over her stomach.

"Niamh! You had a fall, he's only being thorough" he says stroking her hand with his thumb.

She goes quiet and lets the doctor carry on. He puts the gel on her stomach before pressing the doppler down on her stomach.

Niamh looks over at Joe who smiles at her and makes her smile. She looks back over at the doctor who moves the Doppler around.

"Hmm" the doctor mutters to himself and moves it more.

"is the baby okay?" Niamh asks.

"She's fine, although her heart rate is rather slow" the doctor smiles

"Slow? What is that bad?" She asks.

"Probably nothing to worry about but if you don't mind I'd like to get a nurse to monitor the baby's heart beat for a few hours" He says.

"Oh... yeah of course" she agrees and the doctor nods and takes the notes.

Niamh just sits there while the doctor leaves the cubicle but soon returns with a nurse who has a heart rate monitor for Niamh.

"I'm sorry... we're supposed to be celebrating your birthday" Niamh sighs as she looks at Joe.

"Don't be sorry babe, our child comes first" Joe smiles as he stands beside her.

The nurse fits the heart rate monitor to Niamh's bump and fiddles with the machine, "So is this your first?" She asks curiously.

"Second actually" Niamh smiles.

"Lovey, So you having a boy or girl?" She asks.

"I don't think we're going to find out" She smiles again as she watches the woman.

Joe smiles and strokes Niamh's hand "giving us little fights already... better not be as bad as your big brother... always worrying us" Joe smiles as he placed his hand on Niamh's bump

"Oh dear, growing up too fast?" She asks.

"He defiantly is, I still can't believe he's six in December" Niamh sighs.

The nurse smiles, "how was that pregnancy?" She asks her.

"Perfect, he just liked to move about and cause me to pee every ten minutes" Niamh laughs.

The nurse laughs and finishes up connecting the monitor.
