Big Brother

When Barbara gets back to the house, Matthew is sitting with Brian as he's not long woken up.

Matthew looks upset and has clearly been crying. "What's wrong Matthew?" Barbara questions.

"Mummy and Daddy have left me... they're never coming back, they don't love me" Matthew cries as he wipes his tears away on his sodden sleeve.

"Matthew, mummy and daddy love you very much okay" Barbara says and goes up to him.

"Where are they" he cries.

Barbara sits herself down on the bed and smiles "you've got a baby sister, Mummy had the baby in hospital while you was asleep" Barbara beams happily.

"Is mummy okay" he mumbles.

"She's fine Matthew. I'm sure she'd love to see you later" Barbara smiles, placing a warm hand on his knee.

"I want to go and see her" Matthew tells them.

"Not yet sweetie, you need a shower and breakfast" Barbara smiles as she looks at Brian who is smiling happily.

"Can I have crispies please" Matthew smiles cheerfully.

"I don't have them, I've got toast" Barbara replies.

"Can I have jam on it please" he asks nicely.

"Of course sweetie" Barbara smiles as she heads downstairs and Matthew races to catch up with her. "Steady down the stairs please" Barbara warns.

"Have you got a picture of mummy's baby?" Matthew asks.

"No sorry I haven't got one yet" Barbara says.

"Oh..." he sighs as he follows Barbara to the kitchen.

"Matthew sit down and I'll make your toast" Barbara says.

Matthew listens and climbs onto the kitchen stool. Soon Jordan comes down and looks at Matthew before joining him at the table.

"My mummy had a baby" Matthew comes out with.

"No she did not! My Mummy told me Auntie Niamh had swallowed a planet..." Jordan says cheekily.

"That's not true!" Matthew cries.

"Well, that's what my mummy said... so..." Jordan says and bobs is tongue out at Matthew.

"I'm telling my Daddy, he'll slap your legs and send you to bed" Matthew says telling him the biggest lie possible.

"No!" Jordan argues.

"Both of you enough" Barbara says raising her voice.

Matthew bobs his tongue out at Jordan while Barbara's back is turned. She then turns around and gives them toast.

Matthew smiles and eats his toast with Jordan, "how about we get you two washed and dressed and out of your pjs" Barbara says.

Matthew nods and so does Jordan. Once they've finished breakfast they head for a wash.
Barbara follows and goes to help them.
