The Bride

"Come on Niamh don't keep up waiting like this" Chloe calls as she tries to keep Jordan and Matthew still.

"Hold on" Niamh calls back down as she composes herself and smiles.

She quickly fastens the buckle on her heel and stands up, straightening her dress out. She couldn't believe it's finally the day, finally the day she marries the love of her life and best friend.

She takes a breath and starts to make her way down the stairs to where everyone is standing there. She holds her dress up a little so it doesn't trip her up.

Everyone looks at her open mouthed and she doesn't know what to say.

She blushes and looks down at her dress and smiles.

"Oh, my gosh" Barbara smiles as Niamh gets to the bottom of the stairs. "You look amazing, where has my little girl who used to cry on school days gone? whatever you've done with my shy and quiet daughter I want her back" Barbra smiles as she starts to cry.

"Oh mum stop" Niamh smiles and laughs a little.

Niamh just about holds herself together, she wraps her arms around her mum and hugs her tightly.
"Flying the nest" Barbra smiles, "Well I know you did that ages ago but today you leave the Walsh family name" She cries happily.

"Mum I'll always be a Walsh at heart, maybe not by name but by heart" Niamh smiles happily while still hugging her Mum.

Barbara pulls away and still admires Niamh in her dress, "I'm off again" she laughs and wipes her eyes.

"Don't start me mum" Niamh laughs as Barbara cups Niamh's cheek and smiles.

"Mummy you look like a princess" Matthew smiles.

"Thank you baby that's very sweet" Niamh smiles as she looks down at Matthew.

"I'm not a baby" Matthew protests.

She crouches down next to Matthew and kisses his cheek, "you'll always be my baby" she smiles and Matthew frowns.

Niamh just smiles at him and he turns around, "granny can I have some crisps" Matthew asks Barbara.

"Not yet... later" Barbara smiles.

"Right ready to go?" Chloe asks. Niamh nods and smiles. "The guys are almost there" Chloe smiles.

Niamh smiles at Matthew who's holding Jordan's hand. "Do you need the toilet Matthew?" Niamh questions. He shakes his head and continues to walk. "Are you sure? You might not be able to go when we get there" Niamh says.

Matthew nods again and follows Jordan as he's gone to follow his mum who is outside.

Chloe helps get them both into the car.

"Where's mummy going?" Matthew panics as he watches her get into another car with Barbara.

"She's just going with granny, you can see we are going to follow her" Chloe says trying to reassure him.

"I want mummy" he whimpers.

Niamh looks over and sees he is unsettled. "Maybe I should see to him?" She wonders.

"I'm sure he'll be alright" Barbara tells her.
"Chloe knows what she's doing" Barbara adds.

Niamh nods and looks at her mum and smiles.
Niamh sits quietly in the wedding car with her mum as they drive along, "what if Joe backs out" she says.

"And why would he do that" Barbara smiles at Niamh.

"I don't know what if he doesn't love me mum" Niamh says.

Barbara rolls her eyes "don't be silly he loves the bones off you it's clear to see" she smiles.

"But I mean..." she says.

"No Niamh he loves you... you're carrying his baby don't ever doubt his love for you" Barbara smiles.

"I'm so nervous" Niamh admits.

"Don't be" Barbara smiles as they finally arrive at the church which is pretty close to the sea.
