Baby Sister

When they get back Niamh sits back down in the bed and watches as Joe lifts Matthew up so he can see Maisie in the cot.
"Daddy..." Matthew says.

"Yes Matthew" Joe smiles.

"Why is she all squished?" He says noticing she has a slightly funny shaped head.

"That's what babies sometimes look like when you first see them" Joe tries to explain.

Matthew nods and continues to look at Maisie. "She has yellow hair..." Matthew smiles.

"I think it looks a bit ginger" Barbara laughs.

Joe and Niamh exchange looks before Niamh smirks. "Well..." she chuckles.

"Niamh you haven't have you" he smirks.

"Come to think of it..." she says seriously.

"...yeah you remember that runner on my last week on Holby?" She continues.

"What? Tom" he questions.

"Yeah ginger Thomas" she replies.

"He's like 18" Joe laughs.

"Yeah so? He was so charming and lovely, brilliant in the bedroom" she replies.

Joe looks down at Matthew who is trying to peer into Maisie's coat and Joe sighs.

"No Joe! Oh come here" Niamh says as she realises Joe may have fallen for it.

She gets off the bed and walks over to him and hugs him. "I would never do that to you... I made a promise" Niamh smiles.

"Please never think that" she smiles.

Joe look down at Niamh "I love you Mrs McFadden" he smiles.

"And I love you Mr McFadden" Niamh smiles and kisses him.

"Ewww" is all they here, Niamh and Joe part and see Matthew pretending to be sick.

Niamh laughs, "I think I should be able to go home later today" she smiles.

"Good" Joe smiles

"Right where are my rings?" Niamh says as she remembers her mum took them off her.

"Here I'll get them" he smiles.

Barbara passes Joe, Niamh's rings. "You've got small fingers" Joe laughs.

"Best things come in small packages, just remember that" Niamh smirks.

"Don't they just?" Joe replies looking down at Matthew and then across at Maisie.

"Indeed" Niamh smiles and Joe turns and goes back to her.

Joe picks up Niamh's hand and kisses it before sliding the rings back onto her finger.

"Perfect" he smiles.

She kisses him and then sits herself back down on the bed. "So Matthew are you going to hold her properly so Daddy can get a good photo of you both?" Niamh asks.

"I don't think she can say cheese yet mummy" Matthew says looking down at her.

Niamh giggles slightly and picks up Maisie as Joe helps him on to the bed.

"Ready?" She asks and Matthew nods.

Joe places a pillow on Matthews lap as Niamh places Maisie down carefully.

"Comfortable?" Niamh asks Matthew.

He nods and stares at Maisie, "Matthew?" Joe smirks as Matthew seems to be holding his breath as he stares.

"You can relax" Joe laughs as Matthew looks over.

"What if I break her" Matthew replies.

Niamh smiles and strokes his head. "You're doing brilliantly Matthew, she defiantly likes you" Niamh smiles as Maisie opens her eyes slightly.

"Mummy she's looking at me" Matthew smiles.

Niamh smiles and kisses his head. "She sure is, baby" she smiles lovingly.

"Matthew can I get one of your best smiles for the camera" Joe smiles as he gets his phone puts

Joe takes a photo and smiles "right now Mummy can join the photo" Joe smirks.

"You want a photo of me like this" Niamh laughs.

"You look amazing babe" Joe smiles.

"Go on Niamh, one for the family photo album" her mum chuckles

"Alright if I must" she smiles and shuffles closer to Matthew.

"Smile" Joe says as he takes a photo.

"Right now Joe... you get into the photo!" Barbara smiles

Joe laughs and sits the other side of Matthew as Barbara holds the phone up.

"Right smile..." Barbara says as she taps her phone a few times. "Why isn't it taking, your dad showed me how to take a photo?" She huffs.

"Let me have a look" Niamh says and goes over to her.

Niamh looks at her phone. "Mum you're taking selfies..." Niamh laughs but stops herself as she remembers she's got stitches and the slightest jolt stings.

Niamh helps her mum and switches the camera around and getting back in place.

Joe glances at Niamh before looking back and smiling. "Beautiful... I shall get your brother to get it in a frame for my lounge" Barbara smiles as she peers over her glasses at them.

Niamh laughs and looks over at Joe. "Are you okay Matthew? Have you had enough?" Niamh asks.

"Can I still help you" Matthew asks.

"Of course" she smiles.

Niamh carefully takes Maisie from Matthew. Matthew smiles and gets off the bed. "Daddy I need a wee" he says quietly.

"We won't be long" Joe smiles and goes to take Matthew to the toilet.

Matthew holds Joe's hand and heads to the toilet. "Daddy, come in with me" He says as he looks at the toilet cubical.

"Yes sure" Joe says and gets himself and Matthew into the cubical to help him.
