Roll cameras part 2

Christmas eve is full of surpises

It's Christmas Eve and Niamh had spent most of her day doing nothing, she sits at the dinner table with her parents and Matthew on her knee, he feeds himself while Niamh had her dinner.

"Niamh you seem very quiet today are you alright?" Barbara asks as she eats her dinner.

Niamh sips her wine and nods "just one of those days" she sighs.

"Regretting what happened with Joe?" Brian asks.

"No... why do you always have to presume because I'm upset it's to do with a boy... he's nothing to me now!" Niamh says in a raised tone.

"Okay calm down Niamh you're dad was just stating something" Barbara says as she stops eating her dinner.

She rolls her eyes and sips her wine. They say no more while they eat their dinner and sit quietly.

Once Niamh's finished her dinner she takes Matthew into the lounge and cleans him up using baby wipes. "Oh you are messy" Niamh coos as Matthew eats his fist and holds Niamh's top.

"Shall mummy get you a banana" Niamh smiles as she knows he's still hungry.

Once she's cleaned him up from his dinner she goes and gets him a banana before cutting it up and placing it on a plastic plate.

"Nana!" Matthew squeals as Niamh places the plate on the floor in front of him.

"Yes Matthew, it's a banana" Niamh giggles as she kisses his head and leaves him on the floor to eat his banana.

Matthew finished his banana and crawls over to Niamh, "right bath time by boy then bed time" Niamh says as she picks him up.

Niamh carries him upstairs and undesses him down to his nappy and goes and checks on the bath.

While she is gone her phone rings but she doesn't hear it, Niamh comes and gets Matthew who's standing up on the bed holding onto the head board.

"Lets get you a nice cool bath, cool you down my wee boy" she smiles.

Niamh takes his nappy off and disposes of it before putting Matthew in the bath.

"Oh my boy you'll be one in the morning, I can't believe I've had you in my life a whole year as of tomorrow" Niamh says as she washes him down.

She washes him down before getting him out the bath, she wraps him in a towel and takes him to her room.

Niamh dresses Matthew before doing the same as every night getting his milk and sitting him on the bed and lets him have his milk.

After that it's not long before Matthew drifts off to sleep. Niamh leaves him there on her bed for a while, she admires how big he's got and she starts to get a bit emotional.

"I love you wee man" she says as she wipes her tears away and picks him up, she carries him through to his room.

Niamh puts Matthew in his cot and goes downstairs to her parents, "he's asleep finally" Niamh huffs as she sits down and her mum offers her a glass of wine.

"We're off to bed in a bit, you okay to turn the lights off?" Barbara asks.

Niamh nods and smiles as she drinks her wine.

Soon Niamh's parents are off to bed and Niamh sits on her own reading through her phone.

She smiles to herself as she finds some photos on joes facebook of Matthew around three hours old, she saves them to her phone before seeing a message flash up from Joe.

'Are you awake?' The message reads.

She doesn't ignore it and replies. 'Yes' she replies.

'I'm here' he replies to Niamh which totally confuses Niamh.

'Are you pissed?' Niamh sends back.

'No, I am here' Joe says and Niamh huffs and puts her phone down.

Niamh grabs her glass of wine and drinks what's left and then pours a bit more into her glass.

Suddenly there's a knock at the door and Niamh gets up and grabs her dressing gown and puts it on. She grabs the front door keys and opens the door.

To Niamh's surprise Joe is standing there smiling at her "what the fuck!" Niamh says as she backs up and puts her hands over her mouth as she starts to cry.
