Going to be a big brother

Once Joe pulls up, he turns off the engine and they get out.

They get into the school and pick Matthew up who is delighted to see both Niamh and Joe.
"Daddy look I drew a picture of the fish in the after school club" Matthew grins cheekily.

"Did you?" Joe smiles and Matthew nods. "It's in my bag, can I show you" he asks.

"When we get home son" Joe smiles as he lifts him up and kisses his cheek.

Matthew smiles and puts his arms out to Niamh but Joe pulls away. "Matty, mummy can't hold you" Joe says.

He whines "why?" He moans as they get to the car.

"She can't she's got a poorly back" Joe lies.

Matthew frowns until they get to the car and Joe straps him in.

"Mummy I have to read a book... but I can't read" Matthew says as they drive down the road.

Niamh turns to him and smiles. "How about I read it to you and you can learn" she smiles.

Matthew nods "can I do It when we get home ?" He smiles.

"Maybe before bed" Niamh says.

Matthew nods and just agrees. They pull up outside and Niamh gets Matthew out and holds his hand as they get to the door.

"Mummy I'd like a drink please" Matthew smiles cheekily.

"What would you like" she asks.

"Apple juice please" Matthew says as he takes his shoes and school jumper off and then goes and plays with his toys.

Niamh smiles and goes into the kitchen and pours him some out of the carton from the fridge.

Joe goes through too Niamh "we telling him now?" Joe asks.

"Can we" Niamh asks quite excitedly. Niamh takes Matthew plastic cup through to him and calls him to sit on the sofa.

Joe sits down next to her and puts her arm around her. "Joe I want to record this" she tells him.

Joe nods and gets his phone out his pocket and sets it up ready. Matthew sits on the sofa and watches between the two. "Are we having dinner soon" he asks.

"Soon darling" Niamh smiles.

Niamh turns to Joe and smiles, "look Matthew, we want to talk to you" she says.

Matthew looks at Niamh and thinks he's in serious trouble.

"Have I been bad" he says as he looks down into his lap not making eye contact.

"No darling, it's nothing bad" Joe smiles. He looks up at them still a bit unsure.

"So, Matthew. How would having a brother or sister to play with sound?" Niamh smiles as she knows Joe is recording.

"Will I have to share my room? I like my big boy room" Matthew sighs.

"No" Joe smiles.

"So would you like to be a big brother?" Niamh questions.

"I like it by myself" Matthew says.

"Really?" Niamh smiles.

He nods "I can play with my own toys" he says.

"Of course you can" Joe smiles.

"Do you want to know a secret matty" Niamh smiles, He nods and smiles and leaned closer to Niamh.

"Mummy's got a baby in her belly" Niamh smiles and Joe takes hold of her hand.

Matthew looks at her confused and crawls along the sofa and lifts up her top. Joe puts his phone down and laughs.

"Where?" He asks.

"Inside my belly, Matty" Niamh smiles.

"How do you know it's in there" he asks quite intrigued.

"Daddy took me for a scan, they took a picture of the baby" Niamh smiles as she takes the scan photo out of her bag.

She shows it to him and he takes it and studies it. "Is this the baby" he says with a little smile.

"Yes it is honey" Niamh smiles happily.

    "It looks funny" Matthew laughs

"You looked like that" Niamh smiles.

"Yeah and you always looked like you was picking your nose" Joe adds with a smirk.

"No I wasn't!" He protests and Joe laughs.

Niamh just hugs Matthew and kisses his head lightly. "So who would like Daddy's special bolognese for dinner?" Joe speaks up.

"I do I do!" Matthew cheers.

"Right well you give mummy lots of cuddles and I'll start dinner" Joe smiles.
