Granddad again

She heads to the study the door is close so using her one hand, she opens the door and pokes her head round. "Dad?" She asks as she sees him sitting as his desk.

He puts his paper work down and peers over his glasses at her, the way he had done every single time she came into his study as a child. "Oh Niamh come in" Brian smiles as he turns the radio off.

Niamh steps forward and closes the door behind her. He smiles as he stand to his feet, "What can I do for you Niamh? How was the honeymoon?" Brian smiles.

"It.. was.. amazing" she says as her face lights up and walks over to her dad and wraps her arms around his waist.

"What's this for?" He asks.

"I love you Dad" she smiles happily.

"Okay Niamh what you after?" Brian laughs.

"Oh you know just want to remind you of how much I love you" she smiles against his chest.

She pauses for a second "...and I'm pregnant again dad" she says hugging him tighter then looking up at him.

Niamh watches Brian he looks a little confused at first but his facial expression soon changes. A huge smile appears and he hugs her back tightly. "Oh Niamh this is great news" he smiles.

He kisses her head "I'm so happy for you and Joe to be having a second and for giving us grandchildren" he smiles.

"Wasn't planned but we'd discussed another and well we just got lucky, I can't wait for Matthew to have another little one around" Niamh smiles.

"I bet he'd be thrilled, and you better give me a granddaughter to spoil this time" Brian chuckles.

"Fingers crossed, I'd love a girl but a boy would be just as good" she smiles.

Brian smiles, "you can't be too far along your not showing a lot" he says as he looks down.

"Not far at all really the test said around 12weeks plus" Niamh smiles.

"So when's the scan" he smiles.

"Friday" she smiles as she pulls her top back a little so her dad can see her stomach "see there is something there if I stand sideways" she smiles.

"Ah I can see now" he says as he smile grows.

Niamh hugs Brian again and kisses his cheek "I'm so happy for you" he smiles.

She stands in a hug with him for a while before she can hear Matthew coming and shouting for her. "Mummy! Mummy! Where are you?" She shouts.

She pulls away and smiles "I'm in here Matty!" She calls.

"I better go out to him" she smiles, Brian nods and smiles at him "please don't mention anything about a baby yet I'm waiting till after the scan and don't worry we'll show you his reaction" Niamh says in a hushed tone and then heads out the study.

Brian happily nods and smiles as Niamh turns to leave the room, closing the door behind her. "Come on then Matty" Niamh smiles as she lifts him and carries him outside.

"Put him down!" Joe says as he sees her holding Matthew.

Niamh rolls her eyes and puts Matthew down and takes his hand, looking at Joe. "You been having fun at granny's" she smiles at Matthew.

Matthew grins happily back "yes Granny got me to eat lots of different food I like fish curry" Matthew giggles.

"Just like you" Barbara smiles at Niamh.

Niamh smiles happily "yes that is one of my favourites, especially when I was just a little old than you are now" she smiles.

Matthew giggles and hugs Niamh, "Mummy I like bananas and custard too" he smiles.

"Hmm lovely" she smiles as the thought of bananas is making her gag.

"Can you make me some" Matthew says cheerfully.

"Daddy can" she smiles and looks at Joe.

"Sure, let's go" Joe smiles taking Matthew's hand and taking him into the kitchen.

Niamh sits down and enjoys the sun for a good few hours before they have to be on their way to the airport.
