(3 weeks later the morning Jen leaves)

Katie's POV

"Jen relax we'll be fine," I assure her as she hugs her arms tightly around my neck and clings to my grey hoodie, burying her head in my shoulder.

"I know," She mutters into me and nods against my shoulder making me grin.

"Come on Jen, you can trust me,' I laugh trying to lighten the mood. I don't want to see her go but I'm being supportive for her cause I know how much her job means to her.

"I know," She repeats making me chuckle.

"Oh come on Jen!" I shout while wrapping my arms around her thighs and lifting her up into the air as I get a small giggle out of her.

"Okay fine I'll stop being sad," She smiles down to me with her hands on my shoulders for support and my chin rests against her stomach.

"How are you so strong?" She asks me in slight amazement.

"It shall remain a mystery," I smile up at her.

"Okay well put me down," She tells me and I don't listen.

"No. Give me one reason why I should," I tell her then start shaking her from side to side in my arms.

"Cause I need to say bye to Scarlett," She raises an eyebrow at me as she contains her laughter.

"Fair point," I nod and drop her down to her feet and embrace her tightly one last time before she has to go.

"I love you," She mumbles into my shoulder.

"I love you too," I mumble back and tighten my grip slightly before releasing her and stepping back so that she can say goodbye to Scar.

I watch as Jen assures Scarlett that she'll be back soon and that I'll take good care of her while she's gone and also that she loves her very much.

"See you in three weeks," I smile struggling to keep the sadness away but it still laces through my expression.

"Yeah," Jen nods and hugs us both tightly then leaves.

"Okay now Bug, I promise that we'll have a great time together while Mom's away," I smile crouching down in front of her, holding her shoulders.

"Okay," She nods sadly.

"Okay," I nod and stand up again the lift her onto my hip and walk into the kitchen.

"I have to go do a couple of things today that you would be bored doing so I have to leave you at Pre-school for a few hours. I hope that's okay, bug?" I ask her wearly. I have to go to the high school I went to and pick up the stuff from my locker and some transcripts from the school office, I forgot about it until Jen reminded me earlier. Jen decided the best thing for me to do is be home schooled till I take my sats then I can do whatever I want and I agree it is the best path to take.

"Okay, I guess," She mutters to me.

"I promise I'll make up for it tonight," I smile to her.

"Okay," She smiles a little knowing that I never break a promise.

After dropping Scar off at Pre-school I drive to the high school and I park my car, well Jen's car I'm borrowing it while she's gone. I walk into the school and make my way to my locker gathering my few belongings then going to the school office and collecting the transcripts. On my way out of the office, I am met by a familiar face. Jennifer the girl that helped me in the fight a few weeks ago.

"Hey," She smiles enthusiastically which I return.

"Hey, how you been?" I ask her in an attempt to make general conversation.
