Katie's POV

I feel slightly rejuvenated but I know it won't last. I slept for about three hours which is better than nothing.

"I'm hungry," Scar mumbles from her seat beside my head.

"Well let's get some food then," I tell her as I drag myself upwards from where I lay across the metal seats.

"Come on," I breath through the pain of my back. It's no where near as bad. It's just really stiff now, maybe sleeping on a hard surface helped.

I take her hand and go to walk out of the waiting room but she refuses to move.

"What?" I ask her.

"Up," She pouts.

"Fine," I groan and pick her up leaning her on my hip.

"Happy now?" I ask her and walk towards the cafeteria.

"Uh huh," She nods smugly and I just smile, I've missed her a lot.

When we get to the cafeteria I get a coffee and some shitty sandwich and Scar gets the same with orange juice.

"You okay?" I ask her as she stares at her untouched sandwich.

"Tired," She yawns and I can tell she needs sleep maybe not as badly as myself but she does get tired faster.

"Wanna go home?" I ask and she doesn't answer.

"Scar?" I prompt her and she looks up.

"What about Mommy?" She asks.

"She'll be fine. If you want I can get Ben to take you home and I'll come get you when it's time?" I ask her and she just nods tiredly.

In response I lift her up and bring her to Ben and pretty much order him to bring her home. He eventually obliges and I go back into Jen's room.

"Any developments?" I ask her. It's just her, Granny went to the cafeteria.

"No," She replies.

"Well are contractions closer together or what?" I reply and sit down on the chair beside her.

"Yeah a bit," She says looking down.

"Jen," I address her. I need to ask about this Darren thing. It's been eating at me.

"Yeah," She looks up again.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask her.

"Tell you what?" She acts as if she doesn't know what I'm talking about but I know when she's lying.

"You know what," I sigh tiredly.

"I was scared. I know what you get like," She defends herself.

"Get like?" I furrow my eyebrows.

She thinks for a second before answering.

"Protective," She says.

"Is that a bad thing?" I grow slightly offended.

"No not at all it's just I don't want you worrying. You always worry about everyone when you don't need to," She says and I relax slightly.

"Well I worry more when I find this type of thing out so do me a favour and don't keep it from me again," I tell her and she nods.

"Okay," She says.

"What even happened anyway?" I ask her.

"He was just really controlling and quite aggressive. He showed a side to him I hadn't seen until you left," She explains.
