Piper's POV

Sitting outside Jen's friend Laura's house tiredly I look at the steering wheel to the security car longing to be steering the car with it other than sitting here stationary.

So as you've probably gathered that I'm sitting here on duty watching the house carefully, wishing I was in bed at my apartment sleeping the night away.

It's around one now so I expect Jen to come out at some point soon, she was only going over to spend some time with Laura. Catch up time she called it.

Just as this insignificant thought flows through my mind I'm terrified out of my mind when someone knocks on the window.

Gasping in fear I smack the window out of failed defence mechanisms. Laura stands looking back at me with a laugh at my petrified state.

Rolling down the window to the blacked out SUV I steady my breathing.

"Yeah that was really really fucking funny," I tell her sarcastically as she contains herself.

"Yeah it was but that isn't why I came out," She smiles as I climb out of the car.

"Why then?" I sigh scratching the back of my neck tiredly.

"Your girlfriend is passed out on my couch," She informs me and my breath hitches at the word girlfriend. She knows?

Brushing the thought aside I walk past her and up the steps into her house where I find my way into the living room.

"She's had a few too many. I'd suggest bringing a bucket I'm not gonna lie to you," Laura pats my shoulder and I just sigh with a small smile.

"I got it," I walk over to a sleeping Jen and scoop her up which fails to rouse her. Good. I can't have her waking up and drunk talking to me.

"I'll see you later Laura," I bid as I walk down the hall.

"Watch her tonight in case she throws up," She tells me and I nod taking the instruction even though I was going to do that anyway.

Bringing Jen down to the car I sit her in the front seat and buckle her seatbelt. Surprisingly her hands grab my face and she pulls me to hers which in all honesty doesn't taste to great.

"Okay Jen calm down. You're very drunk and need to go home," I explain to her as I fight her off gently.

"Nooo," She drags out the word as I push her arms back to her and free myself.

"Yes," I close the door and go around to my side.

"You need some sleep and a lot of water," I tell her as she mumbles a load of incoherent gibberish.

"Yeah okay that's nice let's just get you home," I nod along to keep her humoured.

By the time I've got her home she's out cold again making my job of getting her to bed both easier and harder. Now it's more straightforward but is just a bit of a pain. I don't care as I'd do anything for her but I'm just too bloody tired to be dealing with this right now.

Lifting her out of the car I kick the door closed and walk up the steps to the front door and fumble it open. Walking in I go straight for the stairs and get her to bed as quickly as I can.

Pulling the bed covers over her I make sure that she's laying on her side with a bowl below. She will definitely need it.

Leaving the room to go get a glass of water for her I run into Katie on the stairs and she refuses to acknowledge me.

"I'd love to know what your problem with me is," I man up and spill it to her.

"What problem?" She stops and turns around looking down at her black tracksuit bottoms as she does so.

"It's clear that you have one," I point out.

"Right Okay," She shrugs with her face softening.

"She doesn't tell me anything. She tells you everything. She barely gets involved with me anymore. She's always with you. She hasn't even told me what you guys are yet. I had to find out from Laura. I'm sick sore and tired of it, ever since you came along she's got no time for me," She hits me with it and I really didn't expect all of this.

"I appreciate you looking after her when I can't but she's basically forgotten that I exist," She admits and  I breathe out tiredly.

"Do yourself a favour and stop worrying about her. She's a grown women she can take care of herself and even if she can't I'm here to do that. The only reason that she's avoided you is because she's afraid," I enlighten her.

"Afraid?"

"Yes. She's terrified of fucking with your mind when you have exams this close," I explain.

"She doesn't need to care about them anymore. I failed all of them anyway," She confesses to me in a low murmur.

"I'm sorry kid. You can pass them don't worry. You're a lot smarter than a lot of people I know," I assure her and she just nods timidly.

"Where are you going anyway?" I ask her curiously.

"New York," She tells me.

"Say goodbye to Jen will ya?" I ask her.

"I already did while you were downstairs. She's unresponsive so it was kinda pointless," She explains and I really do feel bad for her. I can see that look of loneliness and longing in her eye.

"Do both of us a favour and drive carefully," I place my hand on her shoulder and she doesn't move away which surprises me. She nods in response with a tiny smile.

"And about the Jen and I thing I'm sorry it just happened and-" She cuts me off.

"Piper relax all I need to know is that she's in good hands and that you're gonna treat her the way she deserves to be treated that's all," She smiles gently and I return it.

"Oh and you need to know that if you don't I will do to you as I did to that scum bag Darren," She warns me and I chuckle.

"I'm serious,"

"I know you are. Don't worry she's in good hands," I smile and she mirrors it crookedly before leaving the exchange.

Finishing her journey up to Jen's bed side I place the water glass down and sit down on the side of the bed placing my hand on the side of her head and running my fingers through her soft blonde hair.

I dread telling her all of this tomorrow.

A/N: How was it guys?? What do you think of the convo between Katie and Piper?? Too serious?
