Katie's POV

I lean forward on the seat as tiredness sets in once again. My head hangs low and my hands clasp together in front of me.

Granda sits beside me leaning against the back of the chair. Granny and Blain went to get us all some coffee so it's just him and I.

I sigh tiredly and rub my hands down the length of my face letting them hang down between my legs.

"She'll be okay," He leans forward and places his hand on the centre of my back.

"I know I'm just so tired," I complain.

"I can barely keep my eyes open," I mutter and he begins to rub soothing circles on my back.

"Well it'll all be over soon buddy, just hang in there," He comforts and I turn my head to look at him and smile warmly at him.

"I'm trying," I reply.

"Good," He winks and I chuckle at his attitude.

"I'm gonna go check what those two are up to," He gets up and walks across the room.

"You want anything?" He asks and is interrupted when a newborn's cries are muffling their way through the hospital walls.

A smile grows on both of our faces in unison and I stand up from my chair and walk over to him in the doorway between the hall and waiting room.

"I'll wait for them you go on in," He pats my shoulder encouragingly.

"I'll wait for someone to come out," I hesitate, I'm slightly scared of the other side of the door. I don't quite understand why, I want to go through it but once I do, my life will change.

"Why?" He asks me in a confused manner.

"Just don't wanna barge in," I lie and he buys it. I'm a good liar when I wanna be.

"I'll get them," He says and walks off down the hall actually more of scampers he's got a serious spring to his step all of a sudden and I think his new grand parentage has something to do with it.

Josh swings the door open and he too has a lot of spring to his step. He has doctors scrubs on and a smile clinging to his face.

"Wanna come in?" He grins and I push past my hesitations and answer.

I nod in response and follow him into the room.

The sunset floods through the windows of the room and a warm and glowing energy runs through the structure.

Nurses scurry around the room and the doctor orders them around as they clear away equipment.

Seconds pass as I edge into the room and the room is void of anyone. Now it's just, Josh, Jen who I haven't looked at yet and myself. Oh and someone else.

My eyes rake across the length of the room and land on Jen's. They're happier than I've seen them in a long time and she has that same mischievous glint back that I saw the day I met her. She lost it somewhere along the line but now it's back and better than ever.

"So what'd I miss?" I smile at her crookedly.

"Not a hell of a lot actually. Just a few choice words... Some anger..." She taps her chin pensively.

"Oh and let's not forget I had a child," She jokes and I chuckle walking over to her hugging her tightly.

"Wanna meet her?" She smiles and my expression changes.

"Her? It's a girl?" My breath hitches in disbelief.

"I was right, you owe me fifty bucks," I comment as if not surprised but my face quickly changes back to it's previously happy and playful expression.

"You're such a dick," Jen chuckles shaking her head and looking down before looking back to my face.

"Hey language around the little one," Josh hushes and Jen contains herself.

"Josh," I address him and he looks to me.

"Shut up," I comment and I obliges.

"Good little man," I raise my eyebrows at him and drop them again.

I turn back to Jen and am met with an addition. A baby wrapped in a pink plush blanket in her arms. She looks down at her sleeping face admiringly and I smile at the image.

"I want you to meet Alex," Jen tells me as she stares down at the babies face.

"I see you listened to me about the simple name thing," I comment as I kneel down beside the bed.

"Yeah yeah," She groans.

Jen shuffles further towards me in bed and I perk up slightly knowing what she's doing.

I reach my hands out ready to support Alex's fragile little body.

"Careful support her head," Jen instructs and I smile at the motherly instinct coming out in her.

I take Alex from her arms and hold her close to my chest, thankfully the little tyrant stays asleep and I can hold her without being tortured.

"Hi," I grin down at her face as I stand up from my kneeling position beside the bed.

"You took your time. And to think I rushed to get here," I comment as I sit down on the side of the bed beside Jen. Josh sits on the seat across from me.

"Hey," Jen smacks my side lightly.

"Sorry," I shrug with a laugh.

I take a second to take in her plump rosey little face and get to know it. Little brown hairs sprout from her head and she has a resting pout on her face as she sleeps.

I look up to Jen again as she stares at Alex in my arms. She looks from Alex up to me and I smile before speaking.

"She's really beautiful Jen," My eyes glass over and Jen reaches her hand up squeezing my forearm.

"It's all you," I nod to her.

"Stop you're gonna make me cry," She wipes her eyes and I chuckle letting a tear slip.

"You two always find a way to get sentimental when I'm around," Josh comments.

"We're good at that," I smile slightly and look back down at Alex.
