Today was a rather special day. It was one of the few occasions you got to move around without Conan. No offense to the boy, but sometimes you needed time away. You finished brushing and putting your hair up (if you have short hair, just pin it back), and checked your reflection in the mirror. You smirked, before skipping downstairs. You peeked your head into the detective agency. Conan was sitting on the sofa, doing his homework with Ran.

"Hey, Ran, I'm going now!" You called to her.

She looked up, and smiled at you. "Alright, be careful, and have fun!"

"Will do!" You chirped, as you scampered down to the street.

"Where's she going?" Conan asked, both skeptical and worried.

"She's going to visit a friend." Ran stated simply.

"Who?"

"Nobody you know. Don't worry about it."

"How do you know she's going where she says?" Conan probed.

"I doubt Rin is going to do anything dangerous. Besides, the person she's visiting is her cousin." Ran explained.

Cousin? "I didn't know she had any family." Conan mumbled.

"She asked dad to track him down, and even asked him to do a background check to make sure he wasn't into anything bad. She's being very responsible about all of this. Since dad didn't find anything off about him, I let her go."

Conan looked at the papers in front of him. "Where are they going?" He continued.

"It's none of your business, Conan." Ran chastised. "She specifically asked me not to tell you where they were going."

"Why?!"

"She said you got mad at her whenever she spent time with anyone else. She's allowed to have fun without you, now finish your homework." Ran instructed.

Conan glared at the door. Who is she going to see? Is it Kid? No, she wouldn't have gotten Kogoro to do a background check on Kid. That would draw too much attention. It can't be family, she told me all her family was gone... So who is it? He pondered, the questions eating at his patience. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore. He stood up, and headed towards the door. "I just remembered, Haibara wanted me to help her with the English homework. I should go help her." He chuckled nervously.

"Alright, but don't stay out too long." Ran mumbled, as Conan slid on his shoes, and headed out the door.

He raced down the stairs, and looked down the road. Fortunately, she hadn't yet turned off the street. Conan headed after her. He made sure to stay a good distance behind, and hid every time she stopped or turned. He tailed her for some time, only stopping when she entered a cafe. Conan quickly crossed to the opposite side of the street, and hid behind a newspaper dispenser. He watched her through the window. Just who is she meeting?

----------------------------------

You slid into a seat with your back to the wall, and swung your feet. "Can I get you anything, young lady?" A waiter asked.

"No, thank you." You smiled at the man, and he took his leave.

You continued swinging your feet that dangled off the edge of your chair. Every time the bell at the front ringed, you checked to see who arrived. After the bell rang a dozen times, you put your head on the table, and studied the wood in front of your eyes, a frown on your face.

A rose appeared in front of your face, and you immediately perked up. "Took you long enough!" You chirped, as you took the rose from the boy.

"Sorry about that, Aoko was lecturing me." The boy shrugged, as he dropped into the seat opposite you.
