When Conan finally arrived back at the crime scene, things had developed as one would expect.
"(Y/N), please, open the door." Takagi pleaded, as he knocked on the door to (Y/N)'s hotel room.
"I'm putting my faith in you guys, and you're rolling over because some suit decided you were taking too long?" (Y/N)'s voice was faint through the door, but Conan could clearly hear the frustration in her tone. "Detectives are supposed to find the truth, without wavering in their duties. So, what the hell are you doing?"
"We're just moving to the station for questioning." Takagi tried to explain.
"Bring the Inspector over here, I want to make a deal!"
Takagi seemed taken aback by her statement. "But, you're not under arrest." He exclaimed in confusion.
"I wanna talk to Inspector Meguire!"
Takagi sighed in exasperation, before walking away from the door, and heading across the hall to the crime scene. Conan couldn't help but smirk. She sure knows how to drive people crazy. Conan chuckled to himself.
Within seconds, a livid Inspector Meguire exited the room, and began pounding on her door. "(Y/N), what exactly is the issue?" He barked.
"I'll make you a deal. Give my boys another hour. If they don't find anything, I'll come without kicking up a fuss." She stated.
"And why should I do that?"
"Because you know they're good at what they do. I need you to do this for me." Her voice dropped until it was barely audible. "If you walk me out of here right now, I'll probably be dead in a week. Or have you forgotten about my past?"
Meguire's eyes widened at her words. "Unfortunately, my superiors want us to clean this up as soon as possible." He cleared his throat. "I can only drag this out for another half hour at most." He muttered.
"Then that'll be enough time." Heiji stated confidently. "Ain't that right?" He hummed in a lower voice, before gazing down at Conan.
"Yeah." Conan nodded in agreement.
"Fine, you have half an hour. After that, you'll have to trust us to keep you safe." Meguire stated.
"Yeah, sorry, but trusting isn't exactly my strong suit. I've only survived this long because I avoid people." She grumbled through the door. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to speak to Heiji now." Inspector Meguire let out a worn out sigh, before backing away and heading to the crime scene.
"Oi, (Y/N), you okay?" Conan called through the door.
"I'll be better when you get me off the hook for homicide." She snapped through the door. She let out a sigh. "Sorry, I'm just a bit on edge." She mumbled.
"Don't worry, we'll figure this out."
"Any ideas so far?" She asked, her voice hopeful.
"You remember the girl that ran into you this morning at breakfast?"
"Yeah."
"She's the victim's girlfriend."
"That little..." (Y/N) stopped herself before the curse word could slip out. "Why is she trying to frame me though?"
"It was probably a coincidence. She found out you were in the room across the hall, so she decided to use you. She probably stole your necklace when we were at the beach, then made sure you had no alibi during the time of the murder." Conan explained.
"I'm gonna go look at the scene again. Maybe I'll notice somethin' else." Heiji stated, before following the same path the others had before him.
"Thanks Spiky Head." Came her soft reply.
