You woke up with a splitting headache, insane dizziness, and extreme nausea. You slowly go to your feet, adjusted your mask, and exited the room. Kid was lounging on the couch watching TV while Shinichi sat in a chair rereading a Sherlock Holmes novel. You casually walked up to Kid, and stood in front of him.

"Whatcha need?" Kid asked, sitting up.

Without warning, you balled up your fist and slammed it into his face. Kid yelped as he held his face. Shinichi burst out laughing, tears streaming down his face. You quickly crossed the room, and slammed your fist into Shinichi's gut. More tears began streaming down his face as he held his gut.

"That's what you boys get for getting me drunk!" You growled.

"How do you know you aren't just sick?" Kid grumbled.

"I'm not stupid Kaitou Kid. I grew up on the street, I've had booze before. Good try masking it with a strong tea, but not good enough." You growled as you grabbed a bag of frozen peas and threw them at Kid.

"How else could I get you to talk?!" Kid moaned as he gently placed the bag of peas on his left eye.

"I didn't want to tell you!" You hissed. "What would you do if he came after you, or someone you care about! I would never forgive myself if he hurt any of you." You muttered.

"Man, you're dense!" Shinichi sighed.

"I'm not exactly in the mood right now, Judo." You hissed.

"I'm just startled you could be so dense. Don't you get it?! You are someone we care about!" Shinichi shouted.

"Yeah, why else would I waste my precious time sitting in Kudo's living room?" Kid chuckled.

Their words hit you pretty hard. You didn't know how to react. "I'm going for a walk." You mumbled as you headed towards the door.

"I'll come with you!" Kid volunteered.

"I would rather be left alone."

"Not a chance!" Shinichi interjected.

"Yeah, I'm with Kudo. You aren't going anywhere alone, not so long as you have a killer after you." Kid groaned as he stood up.

You sighed. "Fine, we'll stop by your place."

"Why do we need to go to my place?" Kid asked.

"I'm not going out, with you dressed like that." You said pointing at the bright white suit. "Don't get me wrong, it's snazzy and it fits you, but I don't want to get chased by fangirls or police. And I'm sure you don't want Judo to see your face."

Kid rubbed the back of his head and chuckled. "Good point."

---------------------------------------

When you got to Kid's place, you waved him away. "Go on, go get changed in the Kid cave."

"Kid cave?"

"Yeah, your hidden base. If I remember correctly, the entrance is..."

"Okay, I get it. No need to blurt out my secrets." Kid grinned. "I'll be right back out." He said as he went inside.

You smiled. "Sorry, Kaito. I know you meant well, but I can't risk you or Shinichi getting hurt. I hope you can forgive me." You whispered at the house, as you leapt the fence and ran.

----------------------------------------

You kept running until you felt the familiar lightheadedness return. You stopped and sat on a bench just outside a playground to catch your breath. You could feel the pain in your chest slowly rising over time. You knew that if you kept pushing yourself you wouldn't last much longer.

When you had first started your nightly adventures, you were capable of handling up to nine hours of continuous movement, but now you could barely manage one. Your chest had started hurting more frequently, and more painfully as time progressed.

That was the reason why you had to get away from Shinichi and Kaito. No matter what happened that murderer was going to claim your life, either with new wounds or old. You couldn't bring yourself to hurt them like that.

What was the poem you read when you were little...? You couldn't remember it off hand. It was something about a cat that killed the only bird in a little village. The village held a beautiful service for the bird, and a little girl carried what remained of the bird. In the end, the cat thought that he should have eaten all of the bird, that way he could have told the little girl that the bird had flown far away, and she wouldn't be so sad.

In short, you planned on doing what the cat had decided. You were going to disappear, so they wouldn't be sad. Like the cat, you wanted to protect those important to you, even if it meant dying in a hole somewhere, all alone.

You tilted your head up to the sky, and closed your eyes. You could feel him coming. It was as if someone had wrapped a cold piece of metal around your heart. Someone sat next to you, and you felt your heart begin to race, but you made sure to not show how scared you were.

"What, no funny tricks?" That cruel voice hissed in your ear.

You opened your eyes and stared up at the fluffy clouds that drifted by. "We both know there would be no point. I'm not strong enough right now. Besides, I know you would just use someone else to get to me. It's time we ended this war of ours, just you and me, no interruptions."

"That's fine by me." Came the cold reply. "But, unfortunately for you, I don't play fair." You felt something prick your side, and felt warm blood run down your side. Of course, he brought a knife. You thought to yourself in disgust. "Now, stand up slowly." He growled.

You did as he said, your vision still blurry from running. He prodded you towards an abandoned parking lot, before pressing a cloth over your face. You held your breath, knowing well what was on that cloth, but he wasn't a fool. He punched you hard in the gut, pushing all the air out of your lungs, forcing you to take in a breath. Almost as soon as you inhaled your vision went black, and you collapsed.

----------------------------------------

Shinichi was busy flipping through old case files he had gotten from Mcguire when he heard someone banging on the front door. He sighed and pushed himself away from his desk. He pulled the door open, to be greeted by a panting Kaitou Kid in his full gaudy getup. "What do you want?"

Kid tried to slow his breathing, and gasped out two words. "She's gone."

Shinichi felt the world sway under his feet as the meaning of those two simple words sank in. "You idiot." Shinichi hissed between clenched teeth. "You were supposed to keep an eye on her!"

"She tricked me. When I went to change, she vanished." Kid gasped.

"I knew she agreed to you tagging along too easily." Shinichi growled as he pulled on his shoes, and slid on his jacket. "Dammit! Why does that girl feel the need to be a hero!" He shouted as he sprinted out the door, Kaitou Kid two paces ahead of him.

Don't you just love cliffhangers? No? Just me then.

Now, I bet the question you are asking yourself is, is this story almost over? The answer...I don't know, depends on if I feel like killing your character or not! (Sorry, not sorry) Anyway, I hope you are excited for the next chapter! <3 =>
