The tip of the bloody knife was mere centimeters from Conan's face. The psycho wielding the knife wore an expression between fury and excitement. Your eyes fixed on Conan's face for a moment, and his eyes were tainted by fear.
Your mind went blank.
You felt no fear.
You felt no pain.
You felt only... rage.
You ran forward, crouching like a football player, and slammed into the Butcher. The unsuspecting killer stumbled back several feet, releasing Conan in the process.
It didn't stop there. You charged again, and slammed into him with the force of a decade of rage. He hit the wall, cracking it with the force. His excitement was replaced with confusion. You crashed into him again, this time he went through the drywall. You grabbed his head, and drilled it into what remained of the wall. The weak plaster gave out... through the other side of the wall.
"Rin!" Conan shouted, but you ignored him. You grabbed the gun that had fallen from the Butcher's waistband in the struggle. You stared at it for a long moment, your heart grappling with your brain.
I could end this now...
I'd be no better than him...
What if he goes after Conan and the others again?
You're a protector, not a killer. A voice whispered in your tumultuous mind.
You froze, your eyes widening a fraction. You dropped the gun, as though you were electrocuted, and staggered away from it. What was I thinking?!
A small hand grabbed hold of your own. You finally focused on Conan. His eyebrows were scrunched, and his eyes were filled with worry. Despite his obvious concern, he addressed the need to act. "We need to go before he gets up."
"Y-yeah..." You muttered, your mind blurry
"(Y/N)!" He stated, his voice holding an authoritative tone. "You need to focus."
You squeezed your eyes shut, and slapped your cheeks twice. With a shake of your head, you focused your attention back on the situation. You took a deep breath, before setting to work. "We can't go back down the way we came. I can't explain it all now, but just trust me." You mumbled.
The worry in Conan's eyes didn't fade, his eyes had yet to move away from you. However, he didn't voice his concern. "So you still wanna go through with the plan from before?"
"That's our best bet."
The Butcher let out a groan.
"Alright, I'll follow your lead." Conan nodded, a sense of urgency hanging over you.
You hurried over to where Conan had started tying the cable, and tightened the knot. When you were satisfied it was secure, you guided the cable towards the open window. "Okay, this should do it."
"You bitch..." The Butcher moved now, pulling himself out of the ruined wall. A long gash ran across his cheek, causing blood to run down his face.
Dammit, why couldn't you stay quiet for a little longer. I need to make covering for our hands... and Conan won't be able to properly grip the cable... There is no time...
You caught the back of Conan's shirt, and pulled him close. "Hold on to me." You instructed him. He was confused, but did as instructed. He wrapped his hands around your neck, doing his best to avoid touching your wounds. You grabbed hold of the cable, and climbed onto the windowsill.
