Conan was in position to intercept Kaitou Kid. Rin had fallen silent on the video, but he wasn't sure what to say. Whatever it was that she still had bottled up, he wanted her to let out, but he knew now wasn't the time. Alarms blared inside the museum, and the police began to panic. As they had anticipated, the bright white glider took off from the roof of the museum, a propeller helping it into the air. The police, of course, chased after the dummy, while Conan waited at the opposite side of the building. After a few seconds of waiting, the small grate at the bottom of the wall was pushed out. Out crawled Kaitou Kid, already dressed in police attire.
"Where do you think you're going?" Conan called, drawing the thief's attention.
"Oh, Detective-kun, what brings you here?" Kid answered, the smirk not faltering from his face. "I thought (Y/N) would have come with you." He noted, scanning around for the absent girl.
"Conan, I can't see or hear anything, hold me up!" She grumbled over the small phone speaker. Conan brought the phone up, and pointed it at Kid. "Hey, Kid!" She chirped happily, all signs of her previous down attitude covered instantly.
"I'm a little sad that you didn't come to see me in person. I would have loved to steal you away for the evening~" Kid hummed in his usual tauntingly flirtatious attitude.
"Not today, my gaudy friend, I'm under house arrest." She replied with a shrug.
"House arrest?" Kid tilted his head curiously.
"She's sick, so she wasn't allowed to come." Conan stated, annoyed by their pointless banter.
"A sweet Miss like you needs to take care of herself. A dove can't show it's beauty in the confines of a cage." Kid hummed.
"Can we please cut this short." Conan growled, nauseated by his flirtatious behavior.
"Of course! I should be on my way, lest the police catch on to my ruse." Kid chuckled. "I'll see you around Detective-kun. Feel better, (Y/N)~" He called to the girl with a melodious hum. Kid was about to turn to run, but hesitated. He glanced back at Conan. "Hmmm, not going to pull any of your tricks today?"
Conan gritted his teeth. "I made a promise that I wouldn't tell the police you were here." He growled, wanting nothing more than to catch that gaudy white thief.
"Well then, I suppose I owe you once again, dear Miss. For now though, I bid you adieu." Kid smiled at the phone knowingly. With a puff of white smoke, he vanished into the forest without a trace.
"Thanks, Judo." She whispered.
"I expect you to hold up your end of the deal. Otherwise this whole trip was pointless." Conan sighed, and shrugged.
"Oh...yeah." Her tone dropped again, hovering dangerously close to that depressed edge that hurt him like a razor. "I guess we'll talk when you get back. I'll see you then." She added, struggling to keep the facade up. Without warning, she hung up, leaving the line dead.
What is it that you're trying to hide? He thought to himself, as he stared at the black screen.

You weren't looking forward to this conversation with Conan. You'd managed to dodge the conversation when you were in the hospital with him after he was shot, but there was no skirting around this conversation anymore. You'd hoped you wouldn't ever have this conversation with him, or anyone else. However, you knew it would happen eventually. You were scared that he wouldn't look at you the same way, that he would hate or distrust you, but most of all you were scared of him confirming what you'd tried to avoid for years.
