This meme has nothing to do with the chapter, but I bust a gut when I read it. I hope you enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------------

You and Conan had become basically inseparable. After you thought you'd lost him forever, he came back. You didn't want to take the time you had with him for granted any longer. After all, who knew how much time you had left. (Excluding Author-chan =D)

The two of you were a force to be reckoned with. Case after case came through the Mouri Detective agency, and the two of you solved every one of them. You would both find clues, then compile them. Conan would knock out Kogoro, and you would be his hands and feet during the presentation. Even the teachers at school noticed the change. The two of you would talk during class, and when the teacher caught you snickering, they would ask you a question you shouldn't have known the answer to (since you weren't paying attention), but of course you did.

The one day you didn't go with him, he broke. He wanted you to go, but you'd been a brat. You'd grumbled, "Why should I go. It's not like anything important is going to happen. Besides, if something does happen I don't need to be there for every case."

He wouldn't tell you the details. All you knew was there was a bank robbery, a girl, and the black organization. He seemed deeply hurt by the incident, as though it was his fault. He became a bit reclusive, and started to ignore you. You wanted to understand what was wrong, but you also knew he needed space.

You looked at the boy across the desk, and sighed. He acted fine around the Detective Boys, but for some reason wouldn't talk to you. Since he clearly was upset with you, you moved seats. It wasn't like the teacher was mad about it or anything, she'd gotten used to you playing musical desks periodically. Today you sat alone in the desk behind Conan, in the back of the classroom. "Did you hear there's a new student?" The kids were whispering to one another. You yawned, uninterested.

The teacher opened the door, and everyone started to chatter. "It's a girl!" "She's so cute!"

"Everyone take your seats." The teacher instructed. When everyone was settled down, the teacher introduced the new student. "Everyone, I'd like you to meet Ai Haibara. She's going to be with us from now on. Be kind, alright?"

"Hai!" The class echoed the reply.

"Now, where to put you." The teacher muttered as she scanned the classroom. Several kids offered their desks, but Haibara seemed to know where she wanted to sit. She walked past all the kids offering their desks, and dropped in the now vacant seat beside Conan. "Ai, I'm afraid that seat's taken by our resident wanderer." The teacher explained.

"It's fine. If anything this will keep the two of us from getting yelled at for talking all the time." You grinned at the teacher.

She chuckled and nodded. "I suppose you're right."

"It's nice to meet you." Haibara muttered to Conan.

After class, the Detective Boys ran up to Haibara, and did the same thing they'd done to you and Conan before her. "Let's walk home together!" Ayumi called after Haibara. Haibara looked at her, then continued walking. I like this girl already.

"Just leave a stuck up woman like that." Genta grumbled.

Ayumi and Mitsuhiko didn't listen. They ran after Haibara. You let it go, and walked on ahead on your own. When you made it to the lockers you could hear them talking. "Detective Boys? You guys?" Haibara asked skeptically.
