For this chapter, you get hamster Kaito.

You're welcome.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Conan asked. He watched you with worried eyes.

"I'm fine." You dismissed. "A mild concussion and a few cuts and bruises. Nothing serious."

You noticed Conan's gaze linger on the bruises around your throat, and you had to resist the urge to cover them. His gaze fell to your torn up hands. "I'm sorry."

"You didn't do anything wrong. If anything, I owe you and Kid my life... again." You chuckled.

He met your gaze, his eyes filling with guilt. "I'm the one he wanted."

"You're right." You stated. He flinched at your words. "Just like it's my fault that so many people have been hurt by the Butcher." You shrugged.

"You know that's not..." He started, but his voice faltered.

"See, it's not so easy when the psycho is after you." You hummed, a playful smile on your lips. "So, you can't get mad at me for apologizing anymore."

Conan let out a heavy sigh. "I get it. You've made your point."

"Good. Now, on to actually interesting matters." You reached into your pocket and pulled out your phone. You held it out to Conan. It was an article that had piqued your interest before the kidnapping.

"Queen Selizabeth of Ingram Visits Japan." Conan read the headline. "What about it?"

You smirked and scrolled down the page. Conan leaned in closer to read the smaller text. You could tell when he'd read what you were hinting at. His expression soured, and his fists clenched. "Can he give it a rest." Conan growled. "You're still recovering."

"That's probably the point."

"What do you mean?"

"Kid probably knows you'll be torn between going after him and hovering around me like a mosquito." You mused. Conan shot you a glare, but you ignored it. "So, Mr. Detective, you'd best get ready."

"What are you talking about?"

"I already got the tickets for you and Ran. She thinks she won a raffle. She already called Kazuha and made plans to spend a day there." You grinned. "I must say, it looks like it'll be fun~"

You could see Conan struggling with the decision. He shook his head. "I'm not leaving you here alone."

"I won't be. I'll be here with Kogoro."

"That's the same thing." Conan grumbled.

You cleared your throat to quiet the laugh that bubbled up. "He's... not the brightest man." You shook your head.

"But?" Conan asked.

You looked at him in confusion. "No 'but'."

Conan gave you an incredulous look. "Aren't you supposed to be convincing me to let you stay here?"

You put your hands up in surrender. "I can't tell you that I like being stuck with--" You jabbed a finger towards Kogoro. "--that..." He was passed out at his desk. As you watched, the ash from his lit cigarette fell, and landed on his chest. He yelped, jumping awake. You let out another heavy sigh. "Look. I want to rest, and you pacing worrying about what Kid's doing isn't congruent with that. So, go. I'll stay right beside Kogoro, for whatever that's worth, and I promise to keep my phone on hand at all times."

"Alright." Conan relented. "But if anything happens..."

"You'll be the first person I call." You interrupted him. "We'll probably be stuck here the whole time, so you don't need to worry."
