(Y/N) had fallen asleep. It might be more apropos to say she passed out. She'd barely managed to make it through the first two sets of stitches, so when Haibara started to stitch the wound on her shoulder... Haibara finished stitching the wound, and had taken over bandaging her hands and feet. Then they'd set up the blood transfusion. Now, she slept peacefully, the whisky having numbed the lingering pain that hung over her.

For a long while, everyone was silent. So, it was only natural for Kid to break it.

"What exactly happened tonight?"

Conan rubbed his tired eyes. "We went to her childhood home, the Butcher barricaded it, so we could only go through an open window. He left a message telling her to go in first."

"And you let her?!" Kid growled in a low voice.

"We didn't exactly have much of a choice. He was threatening the kids."

"Then what happened?" Dr. Agasa probed, knowing the arguing wasn't getting them anywhere.

"She went through, and some sort of mechanism made the window slam shut behind her. Before I could open it, a shelf or something fell in front of it. When I finally got inside..." Conan's voice trailed off, remembering the gruesome scene. "That nutcase recreated the crime scene."

Kid's eyes widened.

"By time I found her, and got her out, she was in a bad place. She'd set it up for us to be picked up by a cab a little ways away, so we headed there. There was only one way in and out of the area, and he knew exactly where we'd have to go. He set up this elaborate trap to torment her, and we fell right into it." Conan spat.

"So that's when she received all of these wounds, and took the antidote to escape." Haibara summarized.

"Yeah..." Conan muttered, the fresh memory of the nights events turned his stomach.

"I thought you went with her to keep her safe?" Kid hissed.

"It's not like I just stood around and let this happen." Conan protested, his tone raising.

Their conversation was interrupted by the doorbell. Everyone froze, the tension palpable. Conan looked towards Dr. Agasa. "Are you expecting someone?"

Agasa shook his head.

There was a heavy bang on the door, causing Conan to jump. (Y/N) let out a groan, and shifted in her sleep. Both boys' worried eyes fixated on her. After a painstaking moment, Conan tore his eyes away from her. "I'll answer it." He got to his feet, and Kid rose too. Conan gave him an incredulous look.

"I already trusted her safety to you once today. I won't feel satisfied if I leave it to you again." Kid stated rather harshly.

Conan's pride wanted him to protest, but Kid wasn't wrong. "Alright." He turned to look at Agasa and Haibara. "Keep an eye on her. We'll handle this."

With that, the two boys headed to the door.

Conan grabbed the doorknob, and glanced back at Kid. The phantom thief held his card gun at the ready. They exchanged a silent nod, and Conan pulled open the door. Kid stepped out onto the front porch, Conan right behind him. The yard was dark. The inky black of night distorted everything, save for a box that rest on the front stoop.

Conan crouched, and pulled the box open. His stomach knotted.

"What is it?" Kid asked, not taking his eyes off the jet black shadows.

"Its ravens..." Conan whispered. It was too dark for him to see any details, but it wasn't hard to figure out who had delivered it.

"I'd appreciate it if you would deliver that for me." That cruel voice called.
