I'm going to rephrase my statement from last chapter. This story WILL continue for around 50 chapters regardless of your guys' choices. The question we have right now is should I save the later part of the show (i.e. when Amuro and Sera get involved) for the second series so I have fresh content to work with, or not. If I don't, it could make the later series a bit dry. However, that also means this story would come to an end sooner. It's all up to you guys, but I just wanted to clarify in case there were any misunderstandings.

With that out of the way...

The next few chapters are gonna be pretty dark, just a heads up for anyone who isn't up to reading them right now!

Now, on with the chapter!!

-----------------

"We wanna go to!" Ayumi protested as she and the other brats blocked your way to the door. Conan and you had managed to get them to the Professor's house with little to no protesting, but then they realized what you were doing.

"You can't come, end of story." You stated.

"Why not?" Genta barked.

"Because only two people can go, that's what the note said."

"We can go with you, and wait outside!" Mitsuhiko suggested.

"I'm not stupid enough to think you'd actually wait outside." You grumbled.

"This is no fair." Genta mumbled.

"Not fair? What the hell kind of game do you think this is?" You snapped, your anxiety bubbling into anger. "There's high chance you could die. If I had my way I wouldn't even bring Conan."

There was several moments of painful silence as the reality of your words dawned on them. "M-Maybe we should call the police." Ayumi muttered meekly.

Mitsuhiko nodded. "Yeah, the police should handle something like that."

"Unfortunately, that's not an option." You whispered, your resolve beginning to waver.

"But it's too dangerous for you guys to go!"

"We don't have time for this. If we don't go, other people will be in danger." You shot a glance back at Conan. He was butting out of the conversation. He probably agreed with both sides, but he knew in the end it wasn't his choice.

"What about you guys?" Ayumi whined, tears welling in her eyes.

You looked down at the ground. "I died a long time ago." You whispered so low they couldn't hear, before clearing your throat. "Don't worry, I'll do everything in my power to make sure this idiot comes back safe and sound." You jabbed a finger in Conan's direction.

"That's not what we meant!" Mitsuhiko protested.

You took a deep breath. "Cor Caroli, Cynosura, Puppis" You barked. In an instant, Lock was on his feet, and was barring the children from moving. "We'll go out the back. Haibara, you can release him after we're gone." You instructed. With one last glance at the protesting brats, you turned away. Thank you for worrying about me, but I can't let you guys get hurt. You silently called, as you slung your bag over your shoulder.

Conan quickly caught up to you. "Don't you think that was a bit harsh?"

"I'd rather scare them then have them foolishly try to go with us." You stated. One of your disposable phones vibrated in your bag. You quickly slung the bag off your shoulder and fished around for it. When you found it, you pulled it out, and opened the new message.
