Why does she have to be so infuriating! Conan thought to himself as he and Kogoro analyzed her notice. The first part was self-explanatory. The gaudy white thief was obviously Kid, nobody is quite as bold as he is. The Detective's Eye was an incredibly large red diamond, named in honor of the first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study in Scarlet. That was where the riddle started.

"'I will purloin the aforementioned gem when the sky is at its brightest, and darkest.' What is that supposed to mean?" Kogoro mused aloud. "The sky is brightest at noon, but what would make the sky darker?"

"I doubt it is referring to an eclipse, as the next eclipse won't happen for a few at least another year." Conan muttered.

"Hey, Conan, is Rin still staying with Professor Agasa?" Ran asked.

"Yeah. She said she will be over there for a while. She won't tell me what for though." Conan replied, not looking away from the notice.

"I wonder what's so important?" Ran mumbled.

I don't know, but I'm sure it has something to do with the heist. Why did she decide to do this all of a sudden? Does she not realize how dangerous this is? She's as mysterious as the night sky. You think you understand everything you see, but then something new shows up and changes the way you view everything. "Hold on!" Conan shouted.

"What is it, Conan?" Ran asked, shocked by his sudden outburst.

"When the sky is at its brightest, and darkest! The sky is at its darkest at night, and it would be brightest during the full moon. When the hands are high might refer to the time! The hands of a clock are at their highest at midnight!" Conan shouted victoriously.

"Wow, Conan, how'd you figure it out?" Ran smiled excitedly.

Conan realized his blunder, and mentally chastised himself. "I-I heard Kogoro muttering something about it before." He chuckled innocently.

"O-of course!" Kogoro laughed.

What's my problem? Conan thought angrily. This never should have taken me this long! Is it because it's personal, or is it because of her? An image of her crooked grin popped into his head. Conan shook his head. Cut it out! This is no time to get distracted! Conan again chastised himself. I won't lose this time around. I don't care if it is her, it's illegal!

"What should I have for dinner?" You pondered as she walked towards Professor Agasa's house. "I should make something special to thank Dr. Agasa." You yawned, and stretched your hands towards the sky. It was getting dark, you'd spent way too much time finding materials.

"You can't hide from me." A voice seemed to hiss in the wind.

You spun around, your heart racing, and fear leaping into your heart. You looked around, but there was nobody around. "Damn nerves." You hissed to yourself. You continued on your way.

When you arrived at the Professor's house, you let yourself in with the key he'd given you. "Hey, Doc, I'm back!" You shouted into the dark house. Dark? He should still be here. He normally tells me if he's going somewhere. You bit back the growing fear, and walked deeper into the dark house.

You headed towards the sofa you'd claimed as your bed, and dropped the bag of supplies onto it. You turned to go turn on the lights when you slipped on something. You slammed into the ground with a thud, and a faint splash. You fell into a puddle of cold liquid. "What have I told him about the tomato juice!" You grumbled, as you slowly got to your feet, and groped around for the light switch. When you finally found the light switch, and flicked it on, you felt sick. You hadn't fallen in a puddle of tomato juice, it was far darker... blood. You felt your esophagus tighten as fear threatened to steal your voice, but you bit back the fear.
