It is so hard to somewhat portray the accent of Osaka in English! Please forgive me if it sound's rubbish. I tried to get a sense of it from subtitles, and we all know how those can be lol.

Also, I was vibing to this song while I was writing, so I included it. :P

Anyways, on with the story!

-------------------------------

"Hey, Conan, is somethin' wrong?" Kazuha asked him. They'd arrived at the beach, but he'd made no move to go to the ocean. Instead, he sat beneath their umbrella reading a book.

"No, I'm just enjoying the fresh air right now." Conan replied with a childish smile. Kazuha didn't seem to believe him, but let it slide. She walked over to talk to Ran.

"Yer just moody cause Rin ain't here." Heiji mocked.

A slight blush worked it's way onto Conan's cheeks. "Idiot, that's not it. I just don't want to get in the water right now."

"Hello?" Conan heard Ran answer the phone for what seemed like the fifth time.

"Who does she keep talking to?" Conan muttered.

"I dunno. Kazuha keeps gettin' inta her conversations too." Heiji noted.

Between the waves, wind, and other beach goers, Conan was unable to make out what Ran was saying. After a moment, she hung up, and put her phone back into her bag. Kazuha and her returned to where the boys sat.

"Ran and I are going to go grab a drink from the shop. Do you two want anythin'?" Kazuha asked.

"We've got drinks right here." Heiji protested.

"Well, not the kind I want."

Heiji let out an exasperated sigh. "Yer gonna waste all the money at this rate."

"And if I do that's none of yer business!" Kazuha snapped, before turning and stomping away with Ran right beside her.

"Stupid." Heiji grumbled the insult under his breath.

Conan watched the two girl's go, before settling back into his beach chair, and reading his book. He couldn't enjoy the beach with the others. It didn't feel right. He was the one that let the idea slip to Hattori. The reason being that (Y/N) hadn't been to the beach before. With her not being there, it felt redundant.

"They sure are takin' their time." Heiji muttered. It had been quite some time since they'd gone to get drinks, and they had yet to return. Heiji sat up slightly, a smirk on his face. Conan however, didn't notice. "Maybe they'll bring back somethin' good, what do ya think?"

"I doubt it. They probably just got distracted by something at the shop." Conan mumbled back, not looking up from his book.

Without warning, a hand reached over his head, and plucked the book from his hands. "Oi, what're you..." He started, thinking it was Heiji messing with him. The second he turned around, he froze.

There she was, that sly smirk on her face, and his book in her hand. "Nothing good, huh?" She hummed.

"(Y/)..." Conan started to say her name, but stopped himself. Conan Edogawa hadn't yet met (Y/N) Akahoshi. She'd put a colored contact over her blue eye to match her high school appearance, and her hair was pulled back into a braid. She wore a long sleeved white dress and a pair of sandals. He wasn't sure where she'd gotten the outfit from, but he couldn't take his eyes off of her.

"(Y/N), wait up!" Ran shouted, from a ways up the beach.

With a wink, she turned back to face the two girls that ran towards them. "Sorry, Ran, I got a bit excited." She apologized, her honey sweet tone making it feel like his insides had turned to putty. "I haven't been to the beach before, so I couldn't wait."

Ran and Kazuha finally caught up. "This is yer first time?" Kazuha seemed startled by the news.

"Yeah, I've always been a bit sickly, so the beach was always a pipe dream to me." (Y/N) explained.

"You seem so much more lively than before. That treatment you've been getting must be working really well!" Ran added, happy to see her sickly classmate so vibrant.

"It's worked wonders." (Y/N) replied, the cover story coming out as second nature to her.

-----------------------------------------

"Oh, I nearly forgot, you haven't met everyone. Conan, Heiji, this is (Y/N) Akahoshi. She goes to school with me." Ran stepped towards the dumbfounded boys, to continue the introductions. "This is Heiji Hattori, he's Kazuha's childhood friend." Ran introduced Heiji.

"The Detective of the West. I've heard all about you." You held out your hand.

"Nice to meet ya." Heiji muttered, a bit confused, as he shook your hand.

"And this, is Conan Edogawa. He lives with my dad and I, since his parents are away." Ran continued the introduction.

You turned your gaze to Conan, who still seemed dumbfounded by your sudden appearance. You crouched down, and looked him right in the eyes. His cheeks began to turn pink. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Conan. I hope we can be the best of friends." You smiled at him, the softest smile you'd ever worn.

His face began to turn cherry red. "N-nice to meet you." He mumbled, flustered by how close you were.

"Come on, let's go in!" Kazuha chirped. She grabbed, Heiji and Ran before half dragging them to the water.

You stood up straight, and finally allowed yourself to take in your surroundings. The strong smell of salt on the air that almost burned in your nostrils, the loud crashing of the waves against the shore that you felt in your chest, the tickling breeze that caused the sand to dance around, the cries of the birds as they twirled across the sky. You'd always dreamed of what it would be like, and nothing came close to the actual thing.

Unbeknownst to you, Conan was watching. This was the whole reason he'd set up the trip, after all. He'd been eager to see your reaction to the beach, but this was a hundred times better than he'd hoped. The look on your face was that of a child experiencing something magical for the first time. The tension in your shoulders melted away, and the intensity in your eyes had vanished.

"Come on, (Y/N)!" Ran called from the water.

You snapped out of your trance. "Oh, I'm coming!" You called back. Without a moment of hesitation, you kicked off your sandals and pulled the cover up over your head to finally reveal your swimsuit. It was a two piece, a white tank top with a palm branch design of various shades of blue, with navy blue bikini bottoms. You skipped towards the ocean, before stopping, and twirling back around. You smiled at Conan. "Well, are you coming, Judo?"

His face was cherry red, and his eyes wide. He nodded hurriedly, before jumping down from the beach chair, and running after you.

He'd been stunned, to say the least. The whole time he was planning this trip, he'd been worried about how you'd respond. He was sure you'd love the beach, but he wasn't so sure about swimsuits. He knew how self conscious you always were of your scars, and there was no way a swimsuit would be able to cover them all. However, here you were, not only in a swimsuit, but in one that showed the thick scars on your belly when you moved. As he ran after you, his face still red, he couldn't have been happier for you.

For the first time in your life, those scars didn't exist.

I know, I know, it's another short one.

Please forgive me!

However I want to update as often as possible for all of you, even if it means they are going to be shortened. Many of you might be under quarantine like I am, so I feel like it's my job to help fill the time! So, the chapters for the next while might be shorter, but I'll try to release one every day if I can (of course taking care to not overdo it for my own health)!

I hope you enjoyed it!
