MHA Characters as Things Said at Band Camp

505 words. Taken from the RHS Buccs in Blue 2019-20 Band Camp (my last band camp

So, I had band camp this week. Since Welcome to Night Vale takes a hiatus in the month of July, here are some quotes from band camp. They will all be from MHA because of the official art where All Might and Midoriya are holding music folders, Bakugou has drum sticks, and Todoroki has a trumpet (he’s a saxophone, fight me.). 

Midoriya:*accidently throws something* 
Iida: Don’t yeet on the band field. 

(-a clarinet player who accidently [don’t ask] threw her clarinet)
(-Our drill instructor.)

Bakugou:*to the other drummers, trying to get them to sing their part* Sing or die. 

(-A saxophone after the band director [BD] told us we were going to sing Happy Birthday in our show)

Bakugou: REST!!! 

(-Me, trying to get my section not to play on the rests)

Kaminari: Does ‘quarter’ start with a ‘Q’? 

(-My friend after the BD told us to change the eighth notes to quarter notes)

Todoroki: He’s a backpack? 

(-Meg [who wanted to be named] after the BD is explaining his son’s [his son is in the army and has a special backpack] backpack)

Present Mic: Fix that A! 

(-My friend after I said “I can already hear [BD’s name] saying, ‘Clarinets, fix that a.’”)

All Might: The easier trombone part is the beef. 

(-The BD, he was going to say ‘the b flat’, but realized that it wasn’t a b flat.)

Bakugou: Jason Isbutt.

(-Meg expressing her distaste for Alabama Pines [Our show is Alabama themed because we {most of us, the others live in Tennessee} live in Alabama, Jason Isbell graduated from my school, and Alabama’s bicentennial is this year.])

Mr. Aizawa: According to Mic, this is an ‘oof’, not a ‘yeet’.

(-Our drill instructor dropped something and said yeet [the band was trying to teach him slang] one of the percussion instructors told him that it was an oof problem.)

Kirishima: Do you love people, Bakugou?
Bakugou:*laughs* Do you love people?
Kirishima: Only on Tuesdays.

(-The Drum Major [student director, has nothing to do with drums] to me after the BD asked if we loved people.)

Uraraka:*talking about the music* Don’t die?

(-Me, trying to encourage my section)

Mr. Aizawa: Have you ever heard a baby fall?
All Might: Or the sound of when a train hits something?
Mineta: A train hitting a baby?

(-The music instructor trying to explain Forte Piano [think tornado siren, we start the note loud, get really soft, then loud again])
(-The drill instructor, trying to help)
(-A trumpet player)

Fun fact, my dad is 4 years older than Jason Isbell. In high school his senior year, my dad was a teacher’s aid for the PE class that Jason Isbell was in. My dad and 3 other boys in his grade who were also teacher’s aids would play 4 against the PE class. So, all that backstory to say that my dad hit Jason Isbell, the most famous person to come from my high school, in the face with a dodgeball.
