Cap's Shield

   Clint was in the air ducts again. This time, he was hiding Steve's shield. There was a running bet on how long it would take Steve to find it. The record was ten days. Tony had hidden it behind Steve's headboard. It had a small shelf at the back and the shield fit perfectly. JARVIS was in on the whole thing and refused to tell Steve where the shield was. His favorite response was 'Snitches get stitches, Captain', to which Steve would reply with something along the lines of 'You can't get stitches, JARVIS.'.
   There were rules to the game. You had to leave it in one place. If another Avenger moved it, that was allowed but one person couldn't move it twice. You could tell the other Avengers, but you had to tell all of them. If they told Steve, that was fair. After Peter joined, no one told where the shield was. The shield had to be hidden in the Tower and Steve was allowed to use a metal detector but no one was going to tell him (or Peter) that. They limited the hiding places to the Tower because one time the Guardians came to 'visit' and Rocket 'accidently' took it with him.
  Clint put the shield down and carefully got out of the vents. He hid it there every time because Steve always suspected he would hide it somewhere else. Nat, who happened to be in the room where he dropped, rolled her eyes.
   "He's going to suspet eventually." She said.
   "He hasn't yet so that's what I'm going with. Who has the timer?"
   "JARVIS, start the timer." Nat said.

   In the main seating area, there was a poster taped to the wall. It had the names of the playing Avengers, their time for this month, the top time from last month, the top time from last year, and the top time overall. So far, Natasha was winning. She hid the shield in her room. Steve knew were it was for awhile, but he was too proper to go into Nat's room without permission. Or he was scared of Natasha and didn't want to risk being caught in her room.

   If necessary, the shield was given back, but he had other shields. Suddenly, JARVIS called out a time
   "4 minutes and 1 second."
   Natasha wrote it onto the poster. It would be Peter's turn when he got home from school.

   When Peter got home, he had a plan. He was going to web it up somewhere in the lab. He knew just the place. There was a storage closet in the back of the lab and it was open and filled with stuff.
   "Karen, be a look out."
   "Should I activate Instant Kill Mode?"
   "Karen, we've talked about this. Just be a lookout please."
   "Okay."
   Peter moved the stuff in the closet. He webbed the shield to the celing. Then he put all the stuff back into place wiped his prints off the doorknob. He sat at his desk and started to work on his web shooters.
   "Karen, you don't have to be a look out anymore. JARVIS, please start the timer... please."
   Peter made more web fluid. He was putting the cartrages into his suit when Tony came in.
   "Hey, Mr. Stark." Peter said.
   "What'd you do with the shield?" Tony asked.
   "What shield?" Peter asked.
   "I know it's your turn, kid."
   "I'm not telling. What do I get if I win?" Peter asked.
   "The overall winner, the winner for the year, and the winner for each month go out and eat. The losers have to give them money to pay the bill." Tony explained.
   "Oh. Okay." Peter said. "I'm going to go check on Aunt May."
   "Okay." Tony said.
  
   It had been two days and Steve still hadn't found the shield. The other Avengers were bugging Peter about where he'd hidden it.
   "So, what did you do with the shield?" Sam asked.
   "What shield?" Peter said.

   It had been 9 days. Nat was out for the month and Tony was about to lose his overall. Everyone accepted that Peter was going to win, but they still didn't know where the shield was. No one knew how he found a hiding place that they'd never found before. Steve was looking and the other Avengers were surprised that Peter would hide the shield from Captain America. No one knew how he'd managed not to let anything slip.

   The month was over. Peter won with 17 days. He got the shield and told everyone where the shield was hidden. Nobody could hide it there for the rest of the year.

   When the year was over, Peter had won. He then revealed how he'd done it. He'd been texting Ned and Shuri (who he'd met right before the challenge and made instant friends with). They planned it out Peter showed the texts.

  "So... can my friends come?" Peter asked.
   "Sure..." Tony said. "I'm pretty sure you get to go by yourself because you beat the overall though."
   "Can we see a movie, then?" Peter asked.
   "I don't see why not?" Tony said. "Ask your aunt."
   "Thanks." Peter said. He grabbed his phone back and started texting.
