I know I’m a little late, but I completely forgot and I’ve been super unmotivated. So, welcome to another episode of ‘Maegan’s thoughts of WTNV that nobody asked for!’ Let’s jump right in, shall we? DON’T READ IF YOU PLAN ON LISTENING TO EPISODE 158!
Casper Rhodes: He wants to put brains in robots and use them for manual labor. It seems sketchy, but the Night Vale people are worried about time. He also kept stealing the radio frequency from Cecil. IDK if this means anything, but what if because Cecil and Carlos didn’t donate their brains, Casper couldn’t control them so he had to steal the radio frequency to hold some sort of control? Speaking of Cecil, HE DIDN’T START THE SHOW! CASPER STARTED THE SHOW!! Back to the control thing, when Casper died, all the robots ‘died’ with him. AND THE PEOPLE OF NIGHT VALE DIDN’T LEARN THEIR LESSON ABOUT PUTTING BRAINS IN ROBOTS!!!! They put Casper’s brain in a robot and put him to work! That’s the exact thing they were trying to avoid!!!! CASPER ENDED THE SHOW!!! He started it and he ended it and I just don’t like that. It’s sketchy and Fink/Craner(spelling?) probably have something planned and AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
The Smiling God: The smiling god is back! This is a terrible thing for Night Vale. As of right now, they’ve defeated two of the Smiling god’s plots; Strexcorp and Quality Cryogenics. Those names sound suspicious. “You can’t scream in pain when you’re smiling.” Seems very Strexcorpy. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of Casper Rhodes, especially after the ending. At the end, Casper says that he “Can’t feel the smile anymore.” and he likes that. Then, the smile appeared. It’s in the robot with him. The Smiling god got to him and there’s probably a robot out in the sand wastes that has a smile on its face. Did anyone else notice the parallels to Desert Bluffs? Kevin was the spokesman, promoting the Smiling god, Casper Rhodes did basically the same thing. If you remember the episode about the doubles, there were two of everyone. The robots had everyone’s brain in it. Cecil said something along the lines of, “Help your brain fight, or fight your brain.” Remember the kill your double v. don’t kill your double thing? “What point is there to you?” What’s your purpose? TO BE MADE USEFUL! Your purpose is to be useful. That’s why the brains were going to be put into the robots. So you could be useful after death.
The Robots: Time traveling robot reinforcements. That’s an interesting concept, especially now that time works correctly. The raffle tickets to buy weapons to kill the robots. Tamika Flynn and her army aren’t teenagers anymore. They’re probably in their early twenties, fighting these robots. I love Tamika Flynn and her militia; they fought the librarians and now the robots. Josh Creation turning into a chainsaw to kill the robots. His robot double used him to cut the other robots. He tried to help by turning into a waterfall, but the robots were waterproof? That’s advanced tech, but maybe not that far off. (and we can’t forget when he turned into a 1970s green valley kitchen). The other towns were trying to help against the robots, but the ghosts from Pine Cliffs couldn’t do anything because they were ghosts and the citizens of the whispering forests couldn’t do anything because the robots didn’t take compliments (I feel that, but still). The robots breaking free of their programing was interesting. Will this come back later? Will we get to see more of the robots or have they been sentenced to be used as scrap metal forever?
Throwbacks: Some that I’ve already mentioned are Tamika Flynn and her (no longer teenaged) militia, the doubles, and the Smiling god. There are others. The way Cecil pronounced Nashville wasn’t a big one, but he pronounced something correctly last time. Telly the Barber! Cecil is still mad at Telly, but Carlos has forgiven Telly. (He probably wasn’t mad in the first place tbh). When Cecil was giving survival tips, he mentioned the Arby’s. As in, the lights above Arby’s. “Death is only the end if that story is about you. The story isn’t about you.” Or something like that.
Miscellaneous: The Lions club. Is a real thing? "Lions Clubs International is an international non-political service organization established originally in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, by Melvin Jones. It is now headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois.” is what Google said about it. Does this give us a hint at where Night Vale is located, or is it just a Night Vale thing? Is the Lions Club a different thing in Night Vale? Cecil said that Carlos was right about death being inevitable. Carlos is from the outside, so he aged normally. But Cecil? Personally, I think Cecil did the whole werewolf from Twilight thing where he didn’t age past a certain age until he met his soul mate or whatever. Now they can grow old together! The proverb. “Every friend group has a joyful chasm. If you don’t know who it is, it’s you. You’re the joyful chasm.” That kinda reminds me of the ‘1 in every 4 people are gay’ tiktok audio where they go around before deciding that they’re all gay. Night Vale is very gay, so I guess my weird train of thought is fitting for once.
