My shoes clicked and glided along the floor, the fast upbeat music flowed through the room. I felt as light as a feather when I jumped and twirled with the music. So stuck in my own world I didn't notice Lieutenant Commander Data come in. He watched me move gracefully over the wooden floor as I somersaulted off the wall mirroring the style of Donald O'Conner or Gene Kelly. When I turned and saw him I almost stopped but Data joined me mirroring my movements swinging our arms as balance. Data seemed almost excited to have someone to dance with. Being new to the ship I only knew data in a professional sense and was a little nervous to how he would react to me.
Suddenly Commander Riker burst in shocked and awed as to the scene in front of him.
"I hate to interrupt your dance party, so I won't" Riker laughed as we showed him our moves.
Riker shortly left when data and I had to end the program.
"Computer end program" data called out and I fell against to the floor from where I was standing on a desk. Rushing over data helped me up
"I'm alright" I reassured him and he let me stand up. "Can we do this again?" I asked data as we left together.
"Yes, I find the idea most pleasurable" data and I went our separate ways.
For a few weeks Data and I met up almost everyday dancing together and learning. He kept trying to introduce me to other bridge crew members but none of them wanted to meet me the captain was the only who seemed to like me.
"Data, it doesn't matter if they don't like me they don't like me!" A small argument started between data and myself regarding how the other bridge crew didn't like me. We were put away our shoes after a long day of dancing.
"It matters to me!" Data yelled frustration and desperation laced his voice shocked I dropped my shoes to the floor and hugged him.
"Did I just yell?" He asked me hugging me back.
"Yes! Yes! Congratulations" he spun me around and kissed me. I didn't know how to react but I kissed back when he pulled away he asked me
"Do you mind if we do that again?" I nodded and he kissed me again this time a little bit more passionately.
The next 6 months might have been the greatest 6 months of my life Data and I kept our relationship hidden for the most part. If anyone asked we told them the truth, Data was super sweet about everything he and I would mostly have dinner in my quarters and for special occasions he would play Sherlock and I would watch I also came to every concert.
6 months turned into 2 years, and 2 years turned into 4 when Data made the most romantic gesture.
He gathered the whole crew, keeping the bridge crew at the front for something he wouldn't tell them about he pulled me along side him. When he stopped at the front of a small area I recognized the place where I was recruited to starfleet.
"Data what are we doing here?" I asked him very confused as to what was going on.
"I wanted to bring you here because on this day 7 years ago Captain Jefferies asked you to join starfleet and if that never happened, then I never would have met you even though we met in the most unusual circumstances I would not have had it any other way,
That being said because we met I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Y/n will you marry me?" Data got down on one knee and applause and cheers erupted from everywhere
"Yes, of course!!" I almost screamed as tears welled in my eyes. He slid the ring on my finger and we kissed I pulled away.
"A perfect fit" I looked down at my hand admiring the ring.
"A perfect fit for the perfect girl"
