I tapped my foot against my console, there wasn't any music playing I just remembered a familiar tune.
For a moment there was no one except the captain and myself on the bridge, something that generally happened at this time, when the crew was switching around to night shift.
I was another android similar to Commander Data, however My creator had programmed me in order to completely mesh with humanity, I had emotions, and could change my voice to blend with any human being. I wished not to express either, but I had been told it was the only way for me to live the life my creator wanted for me.
The captain and I sat in silence, he was reading a report and I was tending to the navigation console.
Nothing seemed amiss, all systems were functioning normally. I did not realize in time that it was not something amiss with the ship, but more so with a particular crew member.
I was about to turn to the captain, and report that nothing was happening, and so I could leave only for the door to open dramatically revealing a shaking Ensign Reding.
He held up a phaser pointed directly at my head, switching between myself and the captain.
He was so horribly shaken up that I was almost positive if he fired he wouldn't hit either of us.
"I have got to.. NO! I will not"
He screamed and cried, his eyes flashed different colors as it seemed like he fought with something we could not see.
"Calm down Ensign"
I tried to make my voice as calming as possible as I slowly approached his shaking figure.
"Don't! Get closer to me and I won't be able to control please don't" his tone changed from one of pleading to that of sobbing.
Turning to the captain, he nodded to me resting a hand on my shoulder. Finally Ensign Reding calmed down enough I could take the phaser from him.
I squatted down next to him, trying to pull him into a comforting hug.
I was about to pat his shoulder when he looked up at me, eyes glowing as red as blood speaking in a deep inhuman voice.
"You are a monster lieutenant just like me"
He slammed his hand threw my chest, I didn't have the time to comprehend what had happened as he pulled out bunches of wires.
Very quickly systems shut down, not that I could do anything about it.

PICARDS POV

I grew more and more uncomfortable as the seconds past, watching y/n attempt to calm down Reding
I didn't see what happened, all I knew was suddenly y/n collapsed with a bunch of circuits coming out of her chest.
"Security to the bridge Now!"
I pulled y/n into my lap, she was unresponsive but her normally vibrant e/c was now a dim yellow, mirroring data's eye color.
4 security officers pulled Reding away, Beverly walked in about to check on the situation when she saw y/n she, I assumed she called Geordi.
I had always thought highly of y/n, she and I had become very close over time but she had never told me she was an Android or at least I could hope she was an android.
I passed her along to Geordi who insisted I come with them, Just in case something bad happens.
"Almost half of her internal circuitry has been ripped out, it'll take a miracle but I think I can do it"
I sat down and let Geordi take control, he seemed okay with everything that was happening.
Beverly patted my shoulder before going to help Geordi, she was the only who I ever told about my crush on y/n.
"She'll pull through"
I felt slightly better listening to her but I still had my doubts. I had barely even begin to process the thought she may be an enemy.

TIMESKIP

"From what I've been able to study about Y/n's mechanics I have theory that she was created by Galen Strachan"
Data explained pulling up a picture of a young man
"He was a highly decorated scientist, he suddenly disappeared 40 years ago. According to friends and family he described that he was going to build the perfect Android and that no one would be able to tell they were not looking at a human being"
As data finished speaking things began to make more sense, but I was still waiting to speak with y/n before I drew conclusions.
I was started to get impatient as the minutes passed, after a few moments I just had to tell everyone to leave.
"Why aren't you gone number one?"
I huffed, sounding more agitated than I meant to, turning to look at Will
"Something else is bothering you captain?"
I opened my mouth to speak, about to confess what I was thinking to Will. When my badge beeped, I answered it quickly almost hurting myself with my accidental force.
"She's awake now, Captain"

READERS POV

Once I came too, I instantly knew where I was and felt an unbearable sense of dread and stress.
"Glad to see your awake"
I nearly jumped out of my fake skin when Geordi called to me from behind.
"Does the captain know?"
"Yes he does"
I whipped my head around to the captain standing at the heel of the table. He sat down next to me, the room cleared out almost instantly. I looked down, at my chest where I could feel the change in wiring.
"I will only ask you this once y/n"
I looked back up, a little terrified about what was about to happen
"Are you a friend or foe?"
I could almost breath a sigh of relief,
"Friend, I've always been a friend"
He smiled, shyly holding my hand before Geordi came back in the room with data
"Sorry to interrupt Captain, you're needed on the bridge"
Geordi escorted Picard out, as data helped me to sit up.
"We'll talk later"
He waved from the door, and I waved back smiling like an idiot.
