(Song to listen to whilst reading: Silhouette by Pastel Ghosts)
"Data!"
I crashed into the Android, happily wrapping my arms around his neck.
Data slowly wrapped his arms around my back, carefully pulling me closer to him.
"You have been considerably injured y/n, you need to be in the med-bay"
Pulling back, he carefully examined the burns and cuts on my cheekbones, brushing off dried mud from where the romulan threw me in the dirt.
"I just wanted to see you"
I attempted to connect our lips but Data pulled away faster.
"I did find myself missing your presence y/n, but anything to do with me should not be placed above your medical health"
"It wasn't just for you, I love you anyways idiot"I should've known from the start this mission wasn't going to go well, the captain was insistent we continue the mission, despite our random phaser, and tricoder malfunctions.
Small clouds of smoke floated along in the air, traveling through the wreckage of a ship was dangerous enough but one where we couldn't tell if any of the crew had survived only made my skin crawl worse.
"So far no signs of a crew Commander, but night is coming, we need to wrap it up before more rabid animals show up"
"You're Right l/n, alright everyone just finish your preliminary scans and we'll go back up to the ship"
I turned back to Data, who was scanning over the remains of a computer
"Found anything interesting?"
"Nothing, yet""Careful with that"
I hissed as Data pressed a cloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide against my forehead.
"What happened this time y/n?"
"I was walking back, when some guy just jumped me"
We were out on shore leave, Data found a place in the city for us to stay in together for the time being.
Leaning against the counter, both my arms held onto his waist, Data continued to gently press away the blood,
"The only other thing bruised is my ego, but I'm fine"
I smiled weakly, pressing my forehead against data's for a moment.
"Why don't we watch a movie tonight? I found some great old pictures"
"I have got some programming to finish, later tonight?"
" okay, I love you"
Data stayed silent. Finally my tricorder had picked up on life signals away from the crash sight.
Data walked a few paces behind me, the sky was now pitch black, minus the light of our torches.
"Data, we should be care-careful!"
I shouted as loose rocks fell underneath me, before I made hard contact with the dirt in a 4 foot deep hole.
Jumping down after me, I groaned as I realized my ankle snapped, pain radiating up my leg.
"Data, keep going I think I can hobble back on my own"
Data hauled me up, easily helping me out of the hole.
"Data, I'll be fine, those people won't be"
Lifting me up under my legs, bridal style.
Data continued walking, back in the direction of the others.Linking my hands with Datas, the cool wind snapping at our figures.
He had asked to come star-gazing with me, after I told him about the nights I spent with my family staring up at the stars.
Finally we'd found a nice clearing, bright stars littered the sky like brilliant fireworks, a view that we'd become accustomed to on the ship, but still held the same beauty staring up at it from the earth.
Sitting down on the cold ground, I let my head fall on data's shoulder admiring him in the full moonlight.
He was so utterly engaged in the stars above him, part of him looking as though he was counting all that he could see.
"I love you"
Data was still counting, silently.I'd finally convinced Data to let me lean on him, instead of carrying me over the miles we had walked in a short amount of time.
We were close to where we had left the group,
As soon as we heard distant shouting, Data set me down on a rock.
"I will return shortly after I see what is wrong, stay safe"
Data very hastily pressed a kiss against my forehead, leaving before I could protest in any fashion.
I tried to stand but my leg gave way immediately, I bit down on my sleeve to keep from crying out as I pulled myself closer to the rock.
"We need to get out of here!"
Commander Riker shouted out, a rough hand pulled me out of hiding."Data can I ask you something?"
Sitting up in bed, I rested against Data's shoulder his arm wrapped around my back.
"Anything"
"What do you think of our future?"
"Can you clarify?"
"Are we going to be starfleet officers forever?"
"No, logically our next step would be marriage and children if the opportunity presents itself"
Turning so I could face him, Data drew circles along my arm.
"We wouldn't be able to stay on the ship, we'd have to find a place to live"
Data nodded slowly,
"There is so much I have yet to learn about humanity, It could negatively affect my ability to be your husband"
"Data it's going to be fine, I love you, anything you've yet to learn doesn't stop me loving you"The fighting stopped, as the sharp metal knife pressed into my neck.
Data stood closest, the man holding the knife to my throat spoke to him.
"You leave our planet space-men, or we kill him, here and now"
"Let her go and we will go"
Before anyone could react, he raised the knife and stabbed threw my chest.
Data tried to push them away, despite the blurring in my vision I watched as more of their men appeared, out numbering us significantly.
They held Data back, even as he got away from them more and more of them pulled at him, 1 of them hit the correct spot in his back and Data collapsed to the ground.
Will was shouting into his communicator, the words unclear.Laying down on our couch, Data rested against my chest.
I silently scanned over the pages of the Sherlock book in front of me, the sun casting enough light from behind us.
Data was also reading, but he was so much faster at reading, he'd finished the page seconds after I flipped it.
"I wish shoreleave could last forever"
I mumbled without thinking, Data sat up almost immediately.
"I should have informed you of this sooner, however I have news that pertains directly to that"
I followed him as he went to his desk.
"What is it?"
"I found a plot of land close to your childhood home, so we could be with your family, hopefully when we have our own"
"Data that's perfect, I love you "I tried to scream, I tried to push away, weakness spreading to every part of my body.
Riker had finally gotten clear, he tried to fight the man holding the knife to me but it was too late when I felt the stab again.
It'd given me just enough time to wiggle away, crawling on my hands and knees until I reached Data.
"Enterprise 3 to beam up"
I held onto his comm badge.
"I can't get a solid lock on anyones signals are you sure?"
"yes!"
I held onto to data, switching him back on.
Yellow energy surrounded Data, but I felt pairs of arms grab my legs and throw me back into the fighting.
I could only throw my fists around blindly, watching hopelessly as the other 2 transported away.
Someone lifted me up my collar, before I felt a fist connect to my face.
Over and over again, I was so sure I was going to black out and let it end, but mercy had long since abandoned me.
"Go back to your friends as a message, space-man"
He brought the knife down again, before they all disappeared.
Smoke drifted over my eyes, my mind going back to Data, trying to get away from the pain racking my body.
Gasping to get the last bits of air, I could, I reached down to the comm badge still miraculously attached.
"D-d-data I love you"
I whispered, before mercy had finally returned, letting it all fall to black. On the ship, Data was practically fighting with the machines around him, trying to get you out of there, unaware of the small disrupter that had been placed on your neck.
For a moment his comm badge came back to life, hearing your voice again 'I love you'
When your life signal disappeared from the monitor completely, everyone in the room held their breath for a moment turning to Data.
"I'm so sorry Data"
Will held onto his shoulder.
Data mumbled to himself, realizing how often he took your gestures of affection for granted.
"I love you too"
