Valentine's Day was quickly approaching, not that I cared for the holiday other than just the excuse to eat heart shaped chocolate and other love related candies.
However at the start of the month I knew things would be different especially when I woke up to a single rose on my table next to my bed, I inspected it finding nothing but a red rose. I tried to brush it off as someone doing something nice as I got ready for the day.
Later as i was eating in the Rec room watching Pavel, my closest friend on the ship sit down next to me. I've always had a little crush on him but I don't want to ruin a good friendship.
"Do you know anything about why there was a rose in my room?" He failed to hide his smile as he nervously combed through his hair with his fingers.
"No, I don't know what you're talking about"
He regained his composure and my suspicions he was behind the flower grew but I didn't feel like asking more questions.
For the next two weeks i kept waking up to different flowers after the second day I decided to put them in a vase.
When I woke up the morning of Valentine's Day there was no flower, no nothing, even though I was slightly disappointed I tried to brush it off.
My day got more disappointing as I went to engineering, my workload was never ending and I couldn't be more excited to get some food in the rec room.
I sat by myself and almost destroyed my food in minutes.Pavel sat down next to me almost so quietly I almost didn't notice him until he loudly coughed and chuckled as I cleaned my face.
"Happy Valentine's Day" he pulled out another red rose and set it down in front of me.
I kissed his cheek and thanked him pulling him into a hug when we pulled away I blushed slightly when he brushed a stray piece of hair back when I heard Sulu yell from across the room.
"Kiss her already!"
