The Secrets We Keep

Part 1

Hailey's POV

Flashback*

 The team had finish the Booth case five months ago and I am back to working Robbery-Homicide. It ' been a week sense I finished the Ron Booth case that I realized that my period was late, at first I thought it was just stress. After shift I went to the pharmacy grab a pregnancy test and quickly drove back to my apartment. When I got home I went straight to the bathroom. "When I see that tiny pink plus on the test is stair  at it longer to see if it will change but it doesn't. Anyway after awhile I came to terms with the whole pregnancy thing , I told my boss at the time that I was pregnant. He put me on desk duty and I took it from there. During the pregnancy I had it rough, I stayed up half nights getting sick then the other half crying, because I was alone in raising this child. A couple days after Ryder Jace Upton was born I brought him home and it wasn't as bad because he was an easy baby. I took me a while to get used to this new routine with a baby and all .

End of Flashback*

On the scene of the robbery and homicide when I see these detectives I've never seen before. Then then I starts talking. " Hi, Detective Upton, robbery-homicide, there's been a robbery and a homicide so I'd appreciate if you vacated my crime scene", I said a little sassy. Then the older one starts talking. "Sargent Voight, Intelligence, but my people were first on scene so were gonna take this" he say's.

On the way out of the crime scene I called the sitter to check on Ry, she then told me that he was fine and taking a nap. That call gave me relief as I walk into the 21th District, on my way to talk to the super intendant and Sargent Voight. The discussion as to who got the case was short because the super intendant ruled it a joint investigation. After the case the team invited me out for beers and I told them I would have to get back to them, but if I did go I would text them. So I called the sitter to see if she could leave Ry with the next-door neighbor. That night I enjoyed my self for the first time in while, I drank and talked. 

The next I woke up with a huge head ache and a screaming toddler. Then I get a call from Voight, I say " Upton", Hey, Upton its Voight can we met up sometime today", "Yea, what time? I was thinking maybe 10am, so met at the 21th District". After I hang up the phone I go to Ry's room to see what was wrong and when I walk in he is asleep again, so I take advantage of his slumber and go take a shower, wash my hair, maybe even put makeup on. When I am just about done getting ready I hear small footsteps behind me. "Good morning Ry, how'd you sleep"?" Good he says. When I finish getting ready we walk to the kitchen to make some breakfast. 

Before the meeting with Voight I get my neighbor to watch, I hug and kiss him goodbye. On the way to the meeting and I get a little nerves. When I get there I walk past Platt who says hi. During the meeting he offers me a spot in his unit because on them is moving away and said " yes" with a smile on my face. Then get a call from the babysitter and ask Voight to step out for a second. "Hey, Estella what's wrong is Ryder okay" I say then she says "yeah he's fine he just hit his head on the play ground and got little cut that's pretty deep so I'm taking him to the hospital to get checked out". After I end the call, I walk back into the office and tell Voight that I have a family emergence and he lets me go early so I hurry to the hospital and...
