Part 63

Hailey POV*

It been a week since Christmas and everyone I'm back at work while Jay stays home with Ry, but some days he pops in to 'help' the team. It's the last day of December and we have all been pulling an all-nighter since yesterday on this double homicide case of this elderly couple. While I'm looking through pod footage from the scene, I get a text from Vanessa.

Don't freak out but when is a good time to go to the hospital when you start having contractions and don't tell Kevin-V.

I get up and walk to the break room to call her. "Don't freak out really Vanessa" I say into the phone. "Your freaking out aren't you" she says. "Of course I'm freaking out your in labor" I say. "Maybe but I don't know because you never answered my question" she says. " you should go to the hospital when there 5 minutes apart and last for 1 minute" I say. "Okay then I got time, there not that long yet" she says. " You should call your OB and pack your hospital bag and don't forget the baby's stuff too." I say. "Okay thanks and don't tell Kev I don't want him to worry about me at least not yet" she says hanging up.

As I'm looking back through the pod footage again I see something. "I got something" I say as everyone walks over to my desk. "Keep an eye on this car, as soon as the shots ring out this car bolts in the direction of the house. This is definitely a robbery crew, and the licenses plate is visible" I says as Kim goes back to her desk." Got a hit" Kim says. "Adam Get a warrant, the rest vest up" Voight says. We get a warrant for the car that's located in an abandoned warehouse uptown. I ride with Kev and Voight Kim and Adam are in the other car with patrol already at the scene ready to breech as soon as we get there. When we get there I take the back with Adam and a couple patrol officers, while Kim, Kevin, and Voight take the front.

Kevin POV*

I'm first in when I get hit by a sniper on the top floor. I hit the ground as a pool of blood soaks my shirt. " 5021 George I officer down GSW to the shoulder need an ambo to 2456 Easton drive" I hear Kim say as she hold pressure to my wound. After 10 minutes I start to here sirens and see the lights flashing. I can't keep my eyes open much longer. "Val" I say as my eyes shut.

I guess I was out for a while because when I woke up it was dark outside. "Hey your awake" Will says getting up from the chair at my bedside. " What time is it? Where's Vanessa?" I say. "Well it's 5pm I know daylight savings through me off too. Oh and Vanessa she's here, just in a different wing of the hospital. "What happened can I see her" I say. "The bullet didn't hit anything you just needed stitches but the shock of it all caused you to fall unconscious you should be able to go home now, let me get your discharge papers and I'll get an update on Vanessa too." Will says. "Thanks man" I say getting up off the bed and walking over to my bag and changing into clothes. " I got the papers" Will says walking back into my room, I grab them and sign them. "What about Vanessa?" I say. "You may wanna sit down this" he says.
