Part 50

Kevin POV*

After I opened the bag I head straight to the 9-1-1 call center to pick up Vanessa. "Hey babe you ready to go" I say. "Yeah but what's to rush" she says. "There s a surprise waiting for you in the car but you have to wait till we get home " I say holding her hand as we walk out the center. "Oh my god is it a puppy" she says with a big smile on her face. "No just come see" I say helping her into car. We get home and I tell her to sit in the couch and close her eyes. "Okay you ready" I say. "Open your eyes" I say. "Damn I really thought it was a puppy. But who's it from" she say. "Well it's from Voight, but you really want a puppy" I say. "Yeah I had one at this foster home with this old couple from age 9 to 11, Rosco was the dogs name. They were my favorite until her husband died, then I got moved to a group home." she says. "Maybe after baby V is born then we can get one" I say. " So do you like what Voight got you?" I ask. "Yes I love the  Police onesie with your last name on it." she says.

Vanessa POV*

" Hey you wanna a go out" she say trying to get off the couch. "Yeah sure where are we going" I say getting up from the couch then I help Vanessa get off the couch. "Lets go to Ikea, to get a crib because we already have the blue paint" I say. "Okay let go" Kevin say walk to the door. "Where are you going" he says. "to change" I say walking up the stairs to change into pregnancy jeans and a long sleeve red shirt with my coat on. As we walk into Ikea we head up to the second floor to look for cribs. "he babe look this one has a good safety rating and it's cheap you like it" I say turning toward his. "Yup lets get it" he says giving me a high five. We ask the store clerk to put the crib on hold for us. "hey lets check out some clothes." I say walk up and down the clothes sections, grabbing stuff like diapers, bedding, socks, and hats. When it's time to check out we pay for everything and have the crib delivered to the house.

When Saturday comes around, Kev and I have already painted the one wall blue and it came out great. Now to build the crib and dresser. I sit in the nursery and watch Kev put the dresser together. " Hey babe you got it or do you need some help" I say as he is struggling to put the crib together  after finishing the dresser. "no I got it" he says. "Okay" I say as I leave the room to wash clothes. When I finish washing and folding the clothes I walk back into the room and see Kevin putting the final touches on the crib. "Vanessa I did it" he says standing up. He stands up and the whole crib falls apart. "Yeah you did" I say laughing. "you need help" I say walking out of the room to call Hailey.

"Hey V" Hailey says. "Hails what are you and Jay doing right now." I ask. " We're playing with Ry, what's up" she ask. "Kev's putting the crib together and he needs help but he won't admit it does Jay know how to build stuff, right" I ask as I hear Hailey on the other end of the phone talking to Jay. "Were on our way" is all Hailey says before hanging up. When they get here I let Jay go upstairs and Hailey and Jay come to the kitchen for snack. "Baby, why" I hear Kevin yell from upstairs. "Hails cover Ry's ears" and she does. "Because your ass needed some help, put the damn crib together!" I yell back. "wow", "Nessa said a no, no word" Ry say with cracker in his mouth. "Sorry buddy it won't happen again" I say knowing that it probably would. "So I heard Voight got you a gift" Hailey says. "yeah he got me a couple onesies and shoes for the baby and this" I say showing her the police officer onesie with Atwater across the back of it. "it's adorable" Hailey says. "baby, mommy, daddy, brother, sister" I hear Ry say. I walk with Hailey over to the couch. "He's learning family words". "Does he ever ask about his dad, I know he's only three but" I say. "he asked once and I didn't answer, how am I supposed to tell a three year old that his dad is dead", "Hailey" I say as she turns around and Ry is behind her.
