Part 32

Kim POV*

Today I have night shift with Tay. I hate night shift but I need the extra money, rent is going up and my salary isn't. I back my bag with a change of clothes, badge, and gun. Then grab some coffee before I leave my apartment. I get there and I see Tay in the locker room all happy and smiley. " Why are you smiling it's night shift" I say taking another sip of my coffee. " Yeah we get to drive around and watch over the city, look if, your that upset I'll drive" she says." Okay" I say as we walk out the lockeroom, grab a walkie, and keys. Then we walk to the car and start to drive around. An hour in we stop for some subs.

As we were walk back to the shop we get a call for a robbery at the dollar store. We hop back in the car and meet with everyone at the store and they've already set up a perimeter. Then I look over at my surroundings and notice Hailey car so I walk over to the Sargent Blake. " Hey Sargent Blake we go off duty police in there and possibly her kid, what's the plan" I say. " Whoever they are they have hostage's so were trying negotiation with the guy" he say, I walk back to post and point my gun at the door just a feet away from Tay and wait.

Hailey POV*

As soon as the guy came back Ry started to wake up. "Mommy" he says. I grab him from Jay and start rocking him so that the robber won't notice him. " Hey! Stop moving or, or someone's gonna die!" he says. Everybody screams when he fires shots at the ceiling. Then the phone rings so he pick it up. " Hello" the guy say. "Hello this is the Chicago Police negotiator my name is James what's your name?" says James. "You don't need to know that I want a plane to Mexico" he says. " I'll get you what you want as long as you let the hostages go" says James. " Okay fine, you old people get out" he says "and you store lady help them" he shots. Then the door and the old couple and the store lady comes out. They walk over to the ambulance where Kim started asking them questions. " Hi I'm officer Burgess can I ask you a few questions" I ask as I see her nod. " How many people are in the store" I ask. " There's six counting the guy with the gun" she says. I walk back over to the Sargent give him the news then go over the plan. Everybody screams when he fires shots at the ceiling. When the shot was fired

Back in side the store the guy was getting restless and tired. So was Ry he was squirming around trying to walk away. Then the unimaginable happened, Ryder started crying, like full-blown tantrum. There was nothing I could do to calm him down with out without getting shot. "He would you shut him up already" The guy yells which makes him cry even louder and that pisses him off even more. They guy gets up and walk over to me tells me to give Ry to him. " I say no so he gabs Ry from me and takes him to the back room. I look at Jay and just start crying.

Outside the store the team was planning on going through the front and back door. The swat team gets in to position. They throw a flash bang and move into the store. That when everyone walks out and over to the paramedics . Jay and I still holding onto Ry's blanket we walk over with Amira and August . After about two minutes they bring out the guy, John Anderson. Then through the shadows is Kim holding Ry, I run over to Kim " Hi baby, mommy was so scared" I say as I rock Ry in my arms. " Thanks Kim and I didn't know you worked night shift" I say. " I don't really just need more hours" she says. Me and Kim part ways as she still had a shift to finish. I walk over and kiss Jay till I hear August say " eww". I look over at Amira who is pacing, I hand Ry over to Jay and walk over to her. " Are you okay" I ask. " No" our bus left and there the next one is a mile away. I don't know what to do" she says on the verge of tears. "Well you said your mom works at MED and we have to go to the hospital anyways so ride in the ambulance with us and Jay will meet us there in my car." I say. " Thank you" she say while she gives me an unexpected hug. "You're welcome" I say as we walk to the rigs to leave for the hospital.
