The Secrets We Keep

Part 55

Vanessa POV*

I wake up and it's already Saturday Kevin's already at work, he's been working double shift's so that we can have enough money for when the baby comes. I get out of bed and see a two text and from Hailey and Kev. So I read the first one, don't forget that you have an 29  week appointment at 11:00 am and ask about the heart problem love you, Kev. Then the next one from Hailey, V Kev told me and Kim about the appointment, Kim can't go because she's spending the day with Adam and Jay took Ry to teach him to play sports in secrets even though I know what there doing so I'm on my way to your house be there in 20-Hailey , which was sent 10 minutes ago. 

So I get ready, I put on black sweat pants and the gray hoodie I stole from Kevin's side of the closet. I go down stairs to eat breakfast but didn't find anything good so I just ate and apple. half way through the apple the door bell rings so I hold the apple in my hand and walk to the door and answer it then walk back to the kitchen to eat. "Okay no hello Hailey how's your morning, nothing" she says closing the door and sitting next to me at the kitchen island. "you've heard of hormones right" I say back sarcastically. "Okay" Hailey says surprised by my behavior. "Sorry it's just that last time the doctor said she saw something on the baby's heart and I guess I'm nervous to find out what it is." I say throwing away my apple core." give me a minute to fix my hair and stuff, I'll be back" I say slowly walking up the stairs. I fix my hair into a  braid on one side of my head then I go back down stair to grab my bad and brown boots to wear before we leave.

We get to the place and I sign in while Hailey get seats. we wait for a least 15 minute before my name was called. "Vanessa" the nurse says. We get to the room and the nurse leaves to, so now were waiting for the Dr. Vivek to do the ultrasound. When the doctor comes in she reviews my chart the takes out the ultrasound. "I know last time you were here I told you that I saw something n your baby's ultrasound, well the test confirmed that your baby has ASD or atrial Septal Defect which mean that there's a hole in wall that separates the two chamber of the heart. Don't panic because these things can sometimes close on their own or they can't, but for now there is no need to worry. I will check to make sure that this hole doesn't get bigger when the baby is born. As you can see on the ultrasound, you baby is doing fine he or she is healthy." the doctor says. "What if the baby's hole doesn't close up will they need surgery or will there be a preterm birth" I say feeling worried for the future. "If and that's a big if, if the hole doesn't close and gets bigger the baby may need a surgery went he or she is born, but like I said these things heal on the own, no need to worry." Dr. Vivek says hand me the ultrasound picture before walking out of the room. 

I get home after the appointment I sit in rocking chair in the nursery with a blanket just to think but I end up falling asleep. I guess I really needed that nap because I woke up and it was already dark outside. I check the time and it read 7:45. I fix myself some left overs from thanksgiving and eat while watching TV on the couch. When I finish eating I go upstairs and take a shower then I put on some more sweatpants and a hoodie.

Hailey POV*

"Hey I'm at home where you guys and don't lie and say that kid place because I know you took our son to some park to play sports." I say into the phone. "We are at that park down the street if you want to join us" He says on the other line. When I park the car and walk to the park . When I get to the park I see Jay and Ry playing with a football and a lady watching her kids from the bench. "Can I sit hear" I say to the lady. "Yeah" she says moving over a little. I take out my phone and text Jay to let him know I'm hear and where I am.  Then I see Ry and jay walk over. "Oh your boyfriend is Jay Halstead" The lady next to me says. "Yeah who are you" I says. " I'm Grace Wesley I met Jay last time he was here with your son, he told me about you, your even more prettier in person" Grace says. " Mommy " Ry says jumping onto my lap. "HI buddy you have fun with dad" I say. "Hey Hails, I see you've met Grace, Grace this is Hailey my girlfriend" Jay says. "Jay talks about you a lot all good things though." Grace says. " Did you guys eat lunch" I say. to Jay as Ry has already fallen asleep. "Yeah we did at 12, I guess he done play football then" Jays. "Oh you finally told her about the sports thing" Grace chimes in. "No I figured it out, I started to wonder why they left at the same time every Saturday and why they would come back all sweaty." I tell Grace as she laughs. "My husband can't keep a secret so it took him less than a week to tell me that he sign our daughter up for softball." said Grace. "Well you two have a good rest of your day" Grace says. "You too Grace" I say. Then I get up still holding Ry in my arms and we walk back to the apartment to take nice long shower.
