The Secrets We Keep

Part 27

Vanessa POV*

We get back to the district, it is now 10:30-ish and Platt greets us. "Upton who's kid is that?" she says. After she said that I look at Hailey, then to Platt, then back to Hailey. " Plat he's mine, but could you please just buzz us up because he is heavy." says Hailey. We are close to the top f the stair when I see Hailey start to get dizzy, so I grab Ryder with one hand and help Hailey upright with my other. We get to the top, I see Jay get up to help Hailey to the lockeroom while I put Ry in the breakroom. I quietly get up and shut the door walk out the breakroom to my desk when I get a text from Hailey " Thank you" it say I reply with a "your welcome". I get started on my work and am almost finished when I here the breakroom door open not to my surprise I see Ry walk out with his Spider-Man Pajamas, dinosaur blanket and stuffed animal. He looks around for Hailey but doesn't see her so he walk up to me climbs on to my lap and is asleep in an instant. I fix his blanket and move him so that he is comfortable. While Ry is asleep I get a text it reads " You look hot with a baby" I laugh a little trying not to wake  up Ryder. I text Hailey to see where she is but all I get is a text from Jay Saying that Hailey fell  asleep in the lockeroom and He took her home. I grab my stuff from the lockeroom while Ry is sleeping  in my chair. I say good bye  to the rest of the team then grab Ry and walk trough the back door to avoid Platt with lots of question.

Jay POV*

When just raid that meth lab when I see Hailey and Vanessa hurry out of here. I try to call but she doesn't answer. When she gets back to the district I can see Vanessa holding Ryder and trying to hold Hailey steady so I run up to Vanessa to try and take the load off. While I took Hailey to the lockeroom. We talked for a bit before she start dozing off. I grabbed both our bags texted Vanessa then took her home. 

We walk through the door and I set Hailey down on the couch, cover her with a blanket then turn on the game. After a while I hear the door bell and see Vanessa with Ryder and his back back in hand. She put Ryder in his room and then leaves.

Hailey POV*

I wake up the next morning a feel a body underneath my head. The last thing I remember is the lockeroom. "Oh my god where's Ry" I shoot up from the couch and run to his room to se him sleeping soundly. Then I hear jay say "You really are a heavy sleeper" which makes me smirk a little. When I walk to my room to shower and change clothes. I get out the shower and put on jeans and a t-shirt. I wake up Ry get him dressed, then breakfast, and brushed teeth. The Jay takes us back to the district to pick up my car. 

When I get to my car Jay and I part ways because he has an extra shift and Ry and I are going to visit Estella. When walk into the ED and first I see Maggie and April working. "So this is your cute kid" I hear Maggie say. "Yeah this is Ryder, can you say hi buddy" I say as Ry waves his hand holding onto my leg. " Were here to see Estella Cruz." I say.

Maggie give us visitor stickers then we walk up stairs.  I see Estella's son Alex, his wife Jess and daughters Isabella and Raya. I approach them slowly with Ryder holding my hand and a picture he drew for his Grandma. "Hey I'm Hailey your mother watch my son when I work late and I'd just like to say I'm so sorry this happened" I say.  They look at me weird but say " Were you there when it happened?" Jess asked as tears fall down her face. "No but my son was and he called 911" I say. " So is she gonna be okay" I say a scared for what I'm about to hear.
