The Secrets We Keep

Part 4

General POV*

After the park Hailey and Ryder went home and ate dinner then went to bed.

Hailey POV*

After the day at the park I went to work the next day and  when I got there Voight called me into his office, now everyone was looking at me, like I did something wrong and they were trying to figure it out. "Hey Hailey, how's that kid of yours"? When he mentioned Ryder I shut the door and said "Hey um Voight, can we not talk about my son at work .... for his safety" I say, but his confused face tells a different story." So are you not gonna tell the te- but before he can finish I say no. Okay he says as he was done trying to get me to give him an answer. After we talk, I open the door and all eyes were on me, but no one talked until jay broke the silence and dragged me into the break room and asked what happened. That's when I realized that maybe I should tell Jay, just maybe but when I opened my mouth nothing came out I was frozen. "Hailey, Hailey" Jay said "Yeah, yeah what" i say. " What was that with you and Voight". " We were just talking I say adamant to get out of being alone in a room with him. "Hailey, wait" he says, "I don't want to talk about jay" I say and leave the room. After Jay and I's talk in the break room we just didn't talk as much as we used to and everyone noticed that when we only talked it was about the case.

 Couple weeks went by, me and jay were on a stakeout and silence fell over the van. Me and Jay were doing surveillance for one of Rojas' CI's when we ear shot fired and over the radio we heard Rojas say that her CI got scared and drove off and that she was headed back to the district.

At the scene I see a blood trail so  we follow the trail and clear the rest of the warehouse. At the end of the blood trail I see some one I haven't seen in years, Scotty I say. "Kelly, your a cop" he says while coughing up blood," yeah , I'm a cop". When I stand up I hear jay say "Kelly"? When the scene is secure me and jay go talk tot Voight. "The victim is Scott Janson" I say " how do you know the victim?" said Voight." When I was undercover three years ago I worked a meth lab and the he ran with Ron Booth". Then he aske if I know Booth, " yeah he just got out of Statesville two-months ago for good behavior, it's a joke" I say with sass. Back at the district while we were going through the dead guys things Voight calls me, Kim, and Jay to do surveillance on Ron Booth warehouse. We take pictures and then jay say " we need eyes in that factory" and I say " what about mine".

When we get back to the precinct, Jay and I tell Voight my Idea to go undercover and he sign's off on it. When Jay leaves the office I ask Voight a huge question " Hey Voight can I go pick up my son so I can say good bye and pack his things for the sitter"? "Yeah sure but after you do that  go to the UC apartment with jay" he says then I walk out the office and go straight to the preschool. When I get to the preschool I ask for Ryder and they told me to wait for them to bring him out, because his class was in the middle of a nap. "Hey buddy, how are ya", he lifts his head to look at me then goes back to sleep. I give a soft chuckle and say goodbye to the workers and leave the preschool. When we get home I pack his things quickly  and say " Hey Ry, mommy has to go but i'll be back be fore you know it, I love you baby" I say with tears in my eyes as we hu I hear a soft " Love you to mommy" from Ry we break the hug as I hand him off Estella. I thank her and say good bye. When she shut the door I him scream "MOMMY"!, and it takes everything in me to not go back to her door and coddle him.

I get back to the district find Jay then drive the UC apartment. The drive there was somewhat quiet until Jay broke the ice." So... where were you"? "Just needed to pick something up" I say not trying to talk about Ryder. He let it go after a while. We get the UC apartment and unload the few boxes I brought from the first time under as Kelly. When we finish unpacking we head back to the district, I tell Voight that it's Janson's funeral tomorrow so Kelly could show up there.
