Part 66

Natalie POV*

"Kevin you have to stay in the waiting room but as soon as I the surgery's done I will come get you" I say as I rush to watch Dr. Vivek preform the C-section. I watch as she makes the cut onto her skin, then to the uterine wall. "and we have a beautiful baby girl everyone" Dr. Vivek says. I follow the nurses to the NICU. as they put in IV's and place heart monitors on her. Once the baby is settled in I walk back out to Kevin and tell him the news. "Kevin" motioning for him to follow me to the NICU. "You have a healthy baby girt entered the world at 12:32 am weighing at 4 pounds exactly and is 16 and a half inches long, congrats Kev" I say. "Can I hold her" he asks. "yeah just put on this gown" I say helping him put it on. We walk in and see all the other babies as we pass through to find her. I pick her up and hand her to Kevin.

Kevin POV*

"oh my gosh her hair and green eyes, how she get green eyes me and Vanessa both have brown" he says. "Genetics man. Would you like me to call someone, Jay or Kim maybe" Natalie asks as she helps he in to a rocking chair. "No I'll call in the morning right now they need sleep" I say. "does she have a name yet?" Natalie asks. "Vanessa wanted to tell everyone, should I go back to the nurse station to get an update on her or.." I say. "You should go back to the nurse station, but she be in surgery for a while. Anyway I'm going to head home now Happy new year" she says on her way out. It's close to 6 am when I see Dr. Vivek walling toward me. "Hi Mr. Atwater" she says. "Vanessa had some additional bleeding and the general surgeon took out her chest tube from the accident and repaired her lung. She's back in her room and is no longer intubated, you can see her when your ready. And she should be waking up soon." Dr. Vivek says. "Thank you so much" I say getting up and putting the baby back in the incubator. I walk to Vanessa's room and sit with her until she wakes up.

Its been an hour, she still hasn't woken up, I squeeze her hand and she squeezes back. "Vanessa, baby it's Kevin" I say. she "Jesus Kev why you so damn load" she says smiling. "You really scared me" I say as tears fall from my eyes as she wipes them away with here hand. "Where's the baby" she says. "She is in the NICU" I says with a big smile on my face. I pull out my phone and show her pictures of the baby. "I can't wait to hold her" she says. "the car" she says. "it's totaled but it's okay" I say. " It's not okay Kev we are up to our asses with bills and with a baby that just a lot more money on top of the hospital bills. How are we going to afford this?" she says. "We have insurance plus our income's from work. Don't worry about the money just focus on getting better" I say taking a seat on the bed with her.

Vanessa POV*

"Do they know who hit me" I say. " Yeah it was a drunk driver, last I heard from the nurses was that he was brain dead" Kev says before I fall asleep in his arms.

When I wake up I here people talking. "Your awake Vanessa, I was just telling Kevin that the you will need to be here for a week then you can go home and that we checked the baby's hole it's starting to close" Dr. Vivek says. "What about the baby" I ask. "she can go home as soon as she can breathe on her own" she says walking out the room. "Your crying, why are you crying" Kev say engulfing me in a hug. "the baby can't go home with us" I say crying some more. " The baby staying here is a good thing, it means the she's surrounded by people who can help her." he says holding my tighter. Then the nurse comes back with the baby. "Alright mama you ready to meet you baby" the nurse says, "yes". The baby fusses a little as she was being moved to my arms but she stopped as soon as she felt my presence. "She has so much hair" I say looking under her small hat. "oh my gosh her eyes are so pretty, but how" I say looking up at Kevin whos smiling. "What". "I just love you and our green eyed daughter" he says making me smile too.

"You guys have some visitor" she say. "You can bring them in" the nurse walking back out to get them. "hi guys" Kim says not even noticing the baby. " oh my god you had her" Hailey says. "Who told you it was a girl" I say. "that's my bad Vanessa" Natalie says peeking in the door. "Can I hold her" Natalie say going over to the sink and washing her hands. "Yeah" I say as the other look shocked. "What I have to work today" Natalie says taking the baby from my arms. "I still can't believe her eyes are green" I say as the team gushes over her eyes. "I asked earlier this morning what her name was and Kev you wanted to tell everyone. So I ask again Vanessa what is your daughters name" Natalie says bouncing the baby. I look up at Kev and smile, then I look back and tell them.

"Meet Valentina Sebbella Elena Atwater or Val" I say as a couple tears fall from Adams face. "Adam why are you crying" I say as Natalie hands the baby back to me. "I won." he says. "What". "My goddaughter has such a long and pretty name" he adds. "hold on goddaughter" Hailey says. "Who told you that you were the god father" I say. "I told him that he was the god father if he guessed the gender right and he did, Jay guessed boy" Kev says. "so who's the god mother" Kim asks as they all star at me. "I don't know it's hard to choose, Kevin." I say as they all shift their glance. "It's hard to choose both my godparents were married and everyone here is dating, Vanessa" Kevin says looking at me." What Kevin is saying that the godmother should be Kim right Kevin" I say not trying to take the blame for this. " I see you guys brought us food" Kev says changing the subject. "Whatever. How big is she" Hailey ask while holding her. "She's 4 pounds, 16 and a half inches long." Kev says. "you guys must be excited to bring her home" Jay says. "Val can't breathe on her own yet so she's staying here for a while and I comes home by the end of this week" I say.
