The Secrets We Keep

Part 9

Jay's POV*

After Hailey leaves I bring Booth to the nearest patrol car and the officers take him to the district. I then try looking around for and can't seem to find her so I ask Voight. " Hey Voight have you seen Hailey?" I ask. " Yeah she went home, but she said that she wants to be alone" said Voight. I say thanks and head home to shower and change clothes. When I'm done changing I sit on my couch contemplating whether or not to go to Hailey place and talk. After a few minutes I put my shoes on, get in my truck and drive to her house.

When I get to her house I knock a couple time before she opens the door and my face goes cold."Who is that?" I ask point towards the kid Hailey's holding. 

Hailey's POV*

When I opened the door I was not expecting Jay to be there, I think he could tell by my blank expression on my face. " Hailey, Hailey you good" he says trying to get my attention as he walks into my apartment. "So who is that" he asks again. "Um.... this  um Ryder my son" I say in one breath. I then get up and Jay follows as I walk to Ry's room to put him to bed " Goodnight my love " I say to Ry as I kiss his head and shut the door.

 " How come the team has never met him" He asks. I take a breath then say I never told you guys for his safety and Voight knows about him because he us at the park. "How old is he and what's his name" he asks " he is two and a half and his name is Ryder Jace Upton" I say. After he get out all the petty questions he starts ask the more important questions like where's his father or how I never told him. " His father is .... Garett and he's dead and I never told you because there was no need too" I say. No need he repeats what do mean no need he says almost yelling. " Hey keep your voice down Ry's sleeping and I guess it was never the right time to tell everyone". "Your still not answering my question how come you never told me your partner" Jay says hurt by this big secret I kept from him." I'm sorry your so hurt by this but I'm not sorry I kept it from you to protect my child" I say with tear falling down my face.

 When I hear the door to Ry's room open and walk over to me with his bed head hair. He snuggles up on me. "I'm sorry I woke you up baby I was just having a conversation with my partner Jay, can you say hi" I say. The he looks up at me with his bright blue eyes and I nod " Hi" he says to Jay. " Hi Ryder, I'm Jay your mom's partner".  " Well I better get him back to bed because it way past your bed time, So say bye to Jay and I'll be by to tuck you in" I say. "Bye Jay" Ryder says, " Bye Ryder I hope to see you soon if your mom lets me" Jay says. I put Ryder down and he walks back t his room. I get up to walk Jay out and say that I'm sorry he had to find out but that I'm glad he knows now. " Hailey, before I go I just want to know if I can still get to know Ryder" Jay says. " Yeah you can still get to know him and I'll tell you more about him at work tomorrow, but for now have a good night and see you tomorrow" I say as slightly pushing him out the door. " Bye Hails and see ya" Jay says I as I shut the door. That night I goo to bed feel so much better knowing that there are no more secrets between me and Jay.
