Part 64

Vanessa POV*

After talking with Hailey I call my doctor and she tells me to get to the hospital. So I pack my hospital bag with clothes for me and the baby. I get in my car and start driving toward MED where she is meeting me. Half way through I realize that I forgot the car seat, and I'm going to turn back and t. It was like I was floating outside my body and I had to watch myself get hurt. The car came out of no where, it was a head on collision. I wake up the first time and I see firefighters all around trying to help everyone.

Stella Kidd POV*

It was in Kelly's quarters when the load speaker interrupted our talk. "Bye Babe" he says as I walk out of the room

Car pile up on 24 Bishop Av requesting engine, truck and aid car to location.

We get our gear on the hop into the rigs and drive to the scene. Casey and Boden start commanding the scene as we grab our tools to help extract people from their cars. Me, Casey and Gallo run over to the first two cars. I run over to the second car with Foster on my tail with medical supplies. I yell over at one of the boys to grab the door opener because the door was destroyed on impact. We get to door open and Foster checks her out.

 "Ma'am can you hear me" she says putting the C-collar on her and leaning her back on the seat . "She's pregnant" Foster yells to Sylvie. "Vanessa" I say not load enough for people to here. "Hey you may want to hurry up the gas line was damaged" Gallo says to Foster. Then Sylvie comes up with the backboard and gurney. " I called a head to MED" Sylvie says as she goes to help Emily. "Grab that backboard and put it here" Sylvie tells me. I grab the backboard and slide it behind the young woman's back as we move her onto the back board. We take her to the rig and drive to MED. "Hey 81 were going to stay and help with clean up" Casey says. After he says that I start cleaning up that young woman's car after the small fire destroyed the hood, but that was the least of her worries. As we finish clean up I walk back to the Truck and over here some guys talking about the other driver. "Man the driver was drunk as hell you could see all of the beer bottles he left on the floor" one of them say as get in the truck.

Sylvie Brett POV*

We load her up in the rig and Emily drive to MED. As I'm dressing the cuts she starts to wake up. "Hello can you here me" I say. "Thirty.... four we-" she says before the pain meds kick in falls asleep. "were here" Foster yells as she get out the rig and goes around the back to open the doors. We unload her and walk her into the ED Maggie points us to the trauma room. Where we move her to a bed and then leave because we have another call.

Natalie POV*

"Hey listen up we got a pile up on the free way multiple victims and many minor injuries be ready" Maggie says. "Trauma 3 Natalie and Noah go" Maggie says as she points the paramedics in the direction. "What do we got" Noah says. "Female early thirties 34 weeks pregnant with head and forearm laceration and multiple rib fractures, and possible internal bleeding" The paramedic says as they take the back board out and clear the room. " I need an ultrasound, chest X-ray and a fetal monitor, now!" I say as the nurses rush to get the items. "Wait this is Vanessa. Vanessa can you hear me, Vanessa, Vanessa. she's seizing. Page Nero, OB and Dr. Marcel" I say giving her something to top the seizure. Once her heart rate stabilizes we take her to surgery to get rid of the internal bleeding. While she in surgery I go help another patient. " Who is this" I say putting back on gloves. " We got the driver of the first vehicle coded on the way here and again brought him back just need to contact the family, but this man is brain dead." Will says as we walk out to room to help more people in the waiting room.

After almost 5 hours of stitching and putting them in splints, I go check on Vanessa in the ICU. "How did the surgery go?" I ask the surgeon. " The surgery went well she just needs to rest for a few days" he says before walking out of her room. I check her chest tube and the fetal monitor while I'm there. Then I head back down to the ED were I fill out paper work and start calling the family's of the victims. " Currently running a tox screen on the driver, I smelt beer on the guy as soon as he was wheeled in" I hear a nurse say. I have already call two of the family's so far. " Hey I just got word from Jay there about to raid a house if you haven't already called Kevin" Will says sneaking up behind me. "Can you call the families, I need to check on Vanessa" I say handing him the sheet and walk towards the elevator. "Wait Natalie incoming trauma" I hear April say as I walk back to the nurses station to get gloves on. "GSW to the shoulder through and through" April adds. "Trauma 5" Maggie says. " What we got" Will says walk into the room.

"Kim what happened." I say walking over to the waiting area. " We were raiding the warehouse and there was a shooter on the top floor, but I checked the bullet it didn't go through. He's going to be okay right" Kim says sitting down with her hands in her head. " Did someone call Vanessa yet" Adam says as he comforts Kim. "I'll do it" Hailey says. " There's no need for that" I say. " Why" The all say at once as there heads look up at me. " Vanessa was in an accident--" all of there head fall as I say it. " Vanessa was on her way here when a truck hit her. She suffered a some internal bleeding which is being fixed in surgery and some broken ribs that punctured her lungs so we put in a chest tube to drain the blood from her lungs. The baby is fine, she is still inside the womb we are monitoring her closely with fetal monitor" I say as their faces brighten up. " It's a girl" Kim says now crying happy tears. " Was I not supposed to tell you that" I say feeling bad. " No it's fine" Hailey says. "It'll be awhile if you guys need to go home, change, sleep and come back tomorrow" I say. "What about Kevin" Adams says. " He'll be discharged as soon as he wakes up, he won't be leaving because of Vanessa so maybe someone get him a change of clothes" I say leaving the waiting area.
