Part 5

At the funeral

Hailey's POV*

When I got to Janson's funeral I get out the car and stand in the cold for Booth to notice me. When he sees me I start to head back to my car and when I turn around he's right there." Hey Ronny, I saw Scott get killed, road rage, right" I say." Yeah, he was a good worker. Last time I saw you, you were pregnant, what happened, where's the kid now?" he says. That question threw me off a bit because the team could here the whole conversation. So I had to make something up " Yeah, I was pregnant, but had a miscarriage after you went to prison". " So you still in the business" I ask. " I'm the paint business now" he says back. There was a brief moment of silence before we both start to say something. "Hey I just want to say sorry about that night, so what brings you back the Chicago" he says. " I lost my job and need some money, and I have a friend from Iowa with a check book". " Okay, but first pick up a package that gets in tomorrow and bring it to my office for me". 

After were done talking I head back to the district and eyes are me but no ones talking. The Kim and Vanessa pull me into the locker room and shut the door." You were pregnant?" Vanessa says because Kim can't make out any words." Yeah, I was" I say truthfully. Then Kim start to say something "I'm sorry for your loss". "Thanks" I say walking out leaving them in the room speechless. When I get back I see Kevin at the board and put up picture and writing down what they have on Booth. I sit at my desk and finish up my work then I go back to the UC apartment and sleep.

The next day everyone is somewhere near the post office while I head to my car then to booths office. When I get to the office he says will that he will meet my guy and says where and when. So I head to the district to tell Jay and Voight. After we talk I grab my phone and call Estella to see how Ryder's doing without me. "hey Hailey how are you" she say "Are you back from your trip or just calling". " No I' m not back yet but I'll be back soon, just wanted to check on Ry and see how he is" I say. " Well Ryder just woke up from his nap and is currently eating a snack" she says." Can I talk to him", "yeah". " Hey buddy, how are you" I says in my kid friendly voice." I good mommy, where are you"? " Mommy's on a trip but I'll be back soon" I say. " Okay, bye" " bye baby, mommy loves you" "love you too mommy" he says. I tell Estella thanks and bye then hang up the phone.when I am about to go back to the UC place Jay calls me to the garage.
