The Secrets We Keep

Jay POV*

After the park we went home and napped for a little. I wake up from my nap when I hear a knock on the door. I carefully lift Hailey's head from off my chest, grab a shirt then open the door. "Auggie you can't sleep ether" I ask picking him up and walking back to the bed. "Is Hailey okay with this" as I tuck him under the covers. "Is Hailey okay with what" she says not lifting her head to look at us. "Auggie wants to sleep in here for a little bit" I say as Hailey hand finds my face to put her hand over it. "shh, no talking just sleep" she says making Auggie laugh. "you too" she says to Auggie. We sleep for a least another 10 minutes before Ry walks in. He climbs up to my side and lays in between me and Auggie.

We sleep for another hour until it's time to feed the baby. I wake Hailey up and hand her the baby monitor. Then I walk past Rowans room down to the kitchen to make us some lunch. I open the fridge and find nothing there. I start making a list of what we need to get from the store. "I thought you were going to make us something" Hailey hands my the baby. " I would but there's no food left to eat." I say. Then you go to the store" she says. " are you coming too" I ask walk towards the stairs. " Jay" she says making me stop in my tracks. " your a grown man you can go to Target by yourself self and I just had a baby" she says. " I know but your better at it than I am" I say.

" Okay Hailey were leaving last call to come with us" I say fixing the boys shoes. " I just had a baby less that a week ago I only left the house to see Vanessa and the park. So no Jay I won't be leaving" she says walk picking up Rowan from the small bassinet we keep downstairs. " Bye boys behave " she says shutting the door as we walk out.

Me and the boys get to Target, I grab a buggy and put Ryder in it. We walk through all the food isles grabbing everything we need for the house along the way. "Can we get animal crackers" Auggie asks as I turn around and push the buggy to the snack Isle. "which ones do you want" I look at Auggie. He points to the regular ones when I get a call. "Hey why don't you and Ry pick out something for Amira. I say lifting Ryder out the buggy and answering the phone.

"Halstead" I say

"Hey Babe we need diapers the newborn ones get pampers thanks bye" she says hanging up pretty fast.

"alright boys what'd you get" I say looking down at the large boxes of cheez-it's. "Maybe we don't need that many" grabbing two boxes out the buggy leaving the one left. "Okay lets get out of here" I say putting Ry back in the buggy. I hold Auggie's hands as we walk to the baby Isle's looking for diaper.  I walk to the diaper isle and grab a box of newborn diapers, dropping them I the pile of groceries to . "now we can go home" I look down and Auggie's gone. "Auggie, August" I say looking around trying to find him. "Hi have you seen a little boy his hair's braided" I ask another woman in the isle over.

I walk all around the baby isle until I find him staring at this baby onesie. " Auggie you can't run away like that okay" I say. " I sorry Jay" he say wiping tears from his eyes. " hey hey you just can't walk away like that again, you really scared me" I say picking him up. " can we get this for RoRo"he say pointing to the onesie that caught his full attention. "yeah" I say taking the onesie off the rack and tossing it into the buggy.

When we get home after stopping by McDonald's for dinner, I put the groceries away. "yes diaper" Hailey says hugging the box. "Where's Amira" I ask. " she's still with Ezra you should go get her" she saying walk toward the stairs.

I walk down the block to Ezra's house and ring the door bell. "Mrs. Hayes hi" I say as she lets me inside the house. "Amira and Ez have been upstairs playing video games the whole time "She say as we walk up the stairs to the room their in. "Yes I won" I over here Amira say. " you can't win we were on a team so technically we both won" Ezra reply's back to her. "I had lots more kills so I won" she says smiling and laughing. Seeing her the with Ezra laughing with huge smile on her face.  It was the first time in a while that she laughed, like really laughed. "you two just gunna stare at us or..." Ezra says. "Sorry to break this up but we got to go home Amira" looking at her.
