Part 26

Paramedics POV*

When me and my partner get to the apartment we open the door to see a lady on the floor and a little boy with his backpack on and a plush dinosaur in his hand. I then run towards the lady and work o the lady while my partner gets the gurney. We get the lady on the gurney at take the buy with us to the Chicago MED.

We get to med and take the patient to treatment 1. Then we stock up on some more medical supplies. When we get back to the rig I see the little boy still sitting in the same spot but with tear coming down from his eyes. So I pick him up and pull him onto my lap. " Is grandma gonna die" he says " no the doctor are really good at their jobs" After a little bit of comforting I pick him up and walk him into the ED and to the nurse station. I try to set him down but realize that he was asleep. " hey Maggie I just got off a call and with a 60 year old woman and this is her grandson and-" before I could finish I hear my radio go off. When I look back up I see Maggie with her hand out ready to take the boy from me " Thanks Maggie" I say and rush back out to the rig.

Natalie POV*

I was called down to the ED for a consult but when I walkout I see a paramedic handing over a sleeping child to Maggie. So I walk over and ask "Who's kid is that". "It's Will's heart attack patient's grandson" says Maggie. Maggie walks over to a chair and set him on her lap. While I look through his backpack to him his mother. As I look through his backpack I see the typical toddler stuff toys, pull-ups, a change of cloths and a blanket. Then I see it the name and number of the owner and am surprised to see the name on the bag. I walk in to the breakroom and call Hailey and tell her what happened.

Hailey POV*

We had just got back from raiding a meth lab and was walking back to the car with Vanessa. It's just after 9:00 when I get a call from Nat. Saying Estella was at MED "where's Ryder?" I say interrupting her. She then continues on telling me everything we hang up and Vanessa hits me with questions. "Where's Ry? Is he okay? What happened? why did Nat call?" say Vanessa. I compose myself then say " Estella is at the hospital, heart attack, and Ry is there to. Vanessa starts the car and drives towards MED she parks the car and we sprint to the entrance. We walk in and I see Maggie at the nurses station. " Hey Hailey and Vanessa are you here for a case" says Maggie. I guess Vanessa could see that I was distracted and answered Maggie's question. "Actually Maggie were here for Ryder. Natalie called Hailey do you know where she is?" says Vanessa.  "Yeah she's in the break room" Maggie says. We get to the break room and I see Ryder on top of Natalie's lap sleeping. 

As I walk into the room I see Ry sleeping so I gently pick him up and rock him back "Thank you so much Nat we really need to get the boys together " I say. "Yeah we really should" say Nat. "so um how Estella, is she okay?" I say. " Estella is okay for now we contacted her family they will be here tomorrow" says Nat as get another page to a different part of the hospital. Before I leave the break room I wrap Ry in his dinosaur blanket. I get back to the ED and find Vanessa so she can go back to work. 'you sure you don't wanna go home because I can take you guys home it's not a big deal" says Vanessa. " No I have paperwork to do and plus he can sleep on the breakroom couch" I says back.
