Today was finally the day everyone would return to Hogwarts after the winter holiday. Desiree hurried to put on her sweater Mrs. Weasley had generously made her for Christmas, and made her way to the station where she would meet Draco and Pansy as they got off the train.

"Desiree!" Pansy yelled. She turned to see her and Draco walking off the train.

Desiree ran up and hugged Pansy. "You got the bracelet I sent you," she said looking at the bracelet on Pansy's wrist.

"And you got the one I sent" Pansy laughed looking at the unintentional identical bracelets.

"Are you two going to talk about your bracelets all day or are we going to actually go to the castle?" Draco asked with a slight attitude.

"Hello Draco," Desiree said looking from Pansy to him. There was a strange silence after this, for what reason Desiree didn't know.

"Right well we should probably get going," Pansy said finally breaking the silence.

The three made their way through the castle to the Slytherin common room.

"Where did that come from?" Draco indicated to the sweater Desiree had on.

"Mrs. Weasley made it for me as a surprise gift on Christmas" Desiree looked down at her initialed sweater before looking up and smiling.

"I don't know why you associate with the likes of them. They're a disgrace to the wizarding world." Draco spat out.

"Why are they a disgrace? Because they simply welcome every type of witch or wizard whether they're muggle-born or pure blood? This does not make them a disgrace...if anything it makes them one of the best families in my eyes. Perhaps the real disgraces are all the families that believe purebloods like you and I are the only worthy types of witches and wizards." Desiree said as she glared at Malfoy. Malfoy simply looked at Desiree in shock, clearly regretting what he had just said.

"Well, I personally like the sweater," Pansy said trying to change the subject.

"Thank you, Pansy. At least someone likes it" Desiree said as she turned her head back to Malfoy. Desiree got up and began to walk out of the common room.

"Where are you going?" Pansy asked looking over the couch.

"To the library to study. You can join me if you'd like." Desiree said almost halfway out of the common room.

Desiree and Pansy walked to the library together without Malfoy.

"Okay, what should we study today?" Pansy asked in one of the many aisles of books.

"Hmm, what about Potions?" Desiree asked as she pulled out a potion book from the shelf.

"Desiree you're one of the best potion makers in our year, maybe even the school. Besides you always study potions. What about Defense Against the Dark Arts?" Pansy asked as she grabbed a different book off the same shelf.

"I suppose you're right...that book is fine," Desiree said as she put the potions book back.

The pair studied and quizzed each other on the topic for what felt like hours.

"Can we go down to the great hall for dinner? I'm quite hungry" Pansy said closing the book.

"Yeah, I'm pretty hungry as well. Let's go" Desiree said putting up the books they used.

They went down to the great hall where they saw Draco sitting by himself. Desiree rolled her eyes "Why is he here?" she said.

"Well, it is where everyone eats. Now can we please go sit down with him...I hate it when you two argue." Pansy said pulling Desiree towards him.

"Your two pals aren't with you...that's surprising," Desiree said with a devilish little smirk.

"Can we please just put this behind us? I'd much rather have you as a friend than an enemy." Draco said looking at Desiree.

"I suppose." Desiree stopped "but you need to promise you won't talk bad about the Weasleys...or in front of me at least."

"I'll try, but only for you," Draco said pointing his finger at her.

The three talked over dinner for about half an hour. They were just about to leave when Desiree saw Cedric walk in. She waved as they began to walked out. He waved back, of course with a smile.

"Who's that?" Pansy asked almost in awe.

"Cedric Diggory," Desiree said matter of factly with a grin on her face.

"How do you know him?" Draco joined in sort of looking glum.

"He introduced himself the night you all left for Christmas. This was the first time I've seen him since that night." Desiree said looking back to the boy she met that cold winter's night one last time.
