Chapter 2-2: The Pixies

"Did you hear about Harry and Ron taking a flying car to school instead of the train?" Pansy said as her and Desiree made their way down to the great hall for breakfast.

"Blimey no, where'd you hear that from?" Desiree asked her eyes wide, her expression in awe.

"I overheard Snape talking about it. Apparently they ran into the Whomping Willow." said Pansy.

"Well I guess that explains why they looked all beat up when they came into the great hall." Desiree said as her and Pansy now sat down at the Slytherin table.

"What are you two talking about?" Draco asked as he was already sitting down.

Before either of them could answer the great hall's attention moved to the Gryffindor table.

"Look everyone! Weasley's got himself a Howler!" Seamus said as he laughed.

Ron quickly opened it "RONALD WEASLEY, HOW DARE YOU STEAL THAT CAR! I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED! YOUR FATHER IS FACING AN INQUIRY AT WORK AND IT'S ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT! IF YOU PUT ANOTHER TOE OUT OF LINE WE'LL BRING YOU STRAIGHT HOME! Oh and Ginny dear, congratulations on making Gryffindor. Your father and I are so proud." The howler yelled before it spat at Ron and ripped itself up.

Desiree couldn't help but laugh along with most of the great hall.

Draco looked at Desiree "Oh but when I say something about them I get scolded by you." he rolled his eyes.

"Draco there's a difference between you making fun of them and me laughing at a Howler he received for this idiotic choice." Desiree laughed again.

Pansy chimed in "She's right you know." She said to Draco laughing.

"We've got to get to Defense Against the Dark Arts." Desiree said now looking at the time.

The three grabbed their books off of the table and made their way to Lockhart's class. Desiree and Draco sat down together while Pansy sat with a boy named Blaise Zabini. Desiree had only really talked to Blaise a handful of times in the common room.

"Hello children." Lockhart turned around and gave his typical self-absorbed smile. "and welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts, with yours truly...me" he now said with wide arms.

"Oh please." Desiree mumbled to Draco as she rolled her eyes. "He can't tell the difference between Lumos and Nox."

Draco let out a slight snicker, "That was actually kinda funny."

"Today we will be studying..." Lockhart paused as he pulled of the cover of a cage, "Cornish Pixies."

Lockhart released the Pixies, it was immediate chaos. "Don't worry children I can fix this." Lockhart yelled, "Peskipiksi Pesternomi." The pixies didn't calm, in fact they took Lockhart's wand and proceeded to throw it out of the window.

"We need to get out of here." Desiree said as she pulled Draco and Pansy to the door. Pansy grabbed Blaise as well.

With all of the chaos in the classroom no one noticed the four leave.

"I told you that man doesn't know what he's doing." Desiree laughed as the four began to walk down to the common room.

"Honestly how has he done so much yet barely know basic spells?" asked Pansy.

"If you ask me I don't think he has done all of the things he's said he has." Desiree said looking to all of her friends.

"What, so he's a fake?" Blaise asked confused.

"Think about it, he's claimed to have beaten and gone on all of these crazy quests but can't stop a simple pack of Pixies? Something doesn't add up." Desiree was now walking backward facing the other three.

"I think you're onto something Desiree." Draco said as the group now entered the common room.

The four talked for a few minutes until Crabbe and Goyle came running through the door.

Desiree immediately felt annoyed when she saw them. "If you'll excuse me." she said now standing up and walking towards the common room door.

"Hey Desiree wait up!" said Pansy running after Desiree.

"I'm guessing you don't like Crabbe and Goyle just the same as I do." Desiree said as Pansy had now caught up to her.

"Of course not. They always follow Draco around like he's their king." Pansy laughed.

The girls made their way down to the black lake where they sat and looked out upon it's dark, mysterious beauty.

"So...when are you going to tell Blaise you fancy him." Desiree said with a slight laugh to Pansy.

"When you tell Cedric that you fancy him." Pansy said with the same laugh.

"I don't fancy Cedric!" Desiree said wide eyed but still with a smile.

"Alright, alright you don't fancy Cedric. That doesn't mean you won't soon." Pansy said slightly tilting her head to Desiree, almost encouraging her to agree.

"You are absolutely mad." Desiree said with her mouth slightly open.

"Ahh but you never actually disagreed this time." said Pansy pointing her finger.

"You are ridiculous." Desiree laughed.

"Desiree is that you?" A familiar voice came from behind the pair.

Desiree turned "Cedric! Hi," Desiree said now looking to the boy she was just talking about.

"Do you think we could catch up? I only ask because we're both free right now." Cedric said looking to Pansy then to Desiree.

Desiree gave a quick look to Pansy and said "Yeah, I suppose now would be a great time." she said now standing up.

As Desiree began to walk with Cedric she looked back to Pansy once more, she was now making a little heart shape with her hands.

Desiree mouthed "Stop" and made a silent laugh before she turned back around to face the correct way.

"So how was your summer holiday?" Cedric asked once the two had walked a little ways away from where they left Pansy.

Desiree told him everything, the trip she went on with her family, the party, and the incident at Diagon Alley.

"No offense but your friend Draco sounds like he can be a real fowl git sometimes" Cedric laughed.

Desiree laughed "Yeah he sure can." She paused, "But he's different around me and Pansy. He actually listens to what we have to say. Don't tell him I said that." She laughed again.

Cedric smiled "I won't I promise."

After about an hour's long walk and a lot of conversation, Cedric and Desiree made their way back into the castle.

"Well I should be getting back to Pansy, i'm sure she's dying to hear what we talked about." Desiree giggled.

"Alright, well have a nice night. I'll talk to you soon." Cedric said as he waved goodbye to Desiree.
