The rest of Christmas holiday felt like a much needed break from all of the chaos everyone was being put through at Hogwarts. Desiree's hand was finally given the break it needed to start healing properly from being cut into almost once a week. Desiree had done quite well at hiding the scars on her hand from her parents. She did however, have quite a close call when all the children decided to teach the adults how to play poker.

"Are you ready to go back?" asked Mrs. Alcyone, looking down to her daughter.

"Yes mum, granted I would have liked a bit longer break from Umbridge," Desiree chuckled. "But I'm glad I'll get to see some people," she smiled as her attention was brought to Draco who was standing just a ways down the platform.

"Well, you best be off so you can find a seat," said Mrs. Alcyone, giving a kind wave to Draco before looking back to her daughter.

"Bye mum," Desiree hugged her mother. "Bye dad," she hugged her father as well.

"Wait, what's that on your hand?" asked Mrs. Alcyone, grabbing hold of Desiree's hand.

Desiree eyes widened, she was frozen in a place for a moment, "Oh, it's nothing. I just hit it on something that other night."

"It doesn't look like nothing. Let me see it," she tried turning Desiree's hand over.

"Mum really, it's nothing," said Desiree, trying to pull her hand from her mother's grasp.

"Desiree," said Mr. Alcyone, eyeing his daughter to make her listen.

Desiree exhaled deeply, "Oh alright."

Mrs. Alcyone's eyes grew wide at the sight of her daughters cut hand. "Desiree what is this?"

Desiree stared silently at her parents for a moment, their eyes pierced through her for the truth, "It's from my detentions."

"Dolores did this?" asked Mr. Alcyone. Desiree silently nodded.

"Desiree we knew you said you were getting more detentions from her but why didn't you say anything? Why didn't you tell us this is what she was doing?" asked Mrs. Alcyone.

"I was scared. I didn't want to seem weak. Especially after everything I've already been through," said Desiree reluctantly.

"We wouldn't have thought you were weak. Darling, this is something you shouldn't have to go through," said Mr. Alcyone.

"You're right. I'm sorry," she paused. "Can I please go now? The train is going to leave soon and Draco is waiting."

"Yeah, go ahead," he nodded. "We'll see you at the end of term. Be sure to write us if it continues. We love you."

"I love you guys too," she smiled, waving her parents goodbye as she walked to where Draco was waiting for her.

"Everything alright? I saw you get pulled back into what looked like a serious conversation," asked Draco.

"Yeah, fine. They just found out about my hand," said Desiree, taking hold of Draco's hand before walking on the train.

"What did they say about it?" asked Draco, his eyes showed honest concern.

"They were mad I didn't tell them but not as mad at me as much as they are at Umbridge," said Desiree, now sitting down in one of the empty compartments.

"Well that's to be expected, I was upset when you didn't tell me," he turned his head to her.

"Hey, who's side are you on?" she laughed.

"Yours of course. I'll always be on yours, whether it seems like it or not," a small grin formed on his face as he gazed in her green eyes.

Desiree smiled sweetly, gazing at his cool grey eyes. "Who would have ever thought that Draco Malfoy has a soft underbelly."
