"Draco, don't, I can't lose you too. Stay."

All was silent in the courtyard. Everyone watched silently for Draco's next actions.

Desiree's hand still stayed locked around his. Draco's eyes laid steady on hers. Desiree watched, holding her breath, as Draco's Adam's apple rose and fell in his throat. His gaze shifted to his mother, who didn't dare take another action. She wanted him to stay with Desiree. She just couldn't say it. Draco, however, didn't need her to say it.

Draco slipped his gaze back on Desiree. He took one more hard swallow and a glance at his father before he nodded. His hand enveloped Desiree's in a hard squeeze, his feet carried him back to her side.

"Fools, all of you," Voldemort sneered.

"I'm not leaving you," Draco whispered in Desiree's ear, holding on tighter to her hand.

Suddenly, Neville began walking towards Voldemort. Desiree felt her breath catch. Was he really joining them? After everything, he'd done to fight against them?

"Well, I must say, I'd hoped for better," Voldemort remarked, causing his followers to break out in another fit of laughter. "And who might you be young man?"

"Neville Longbottom." Another wave of laughter sounded from the Death Eaters; Bellatrix Lestrange especially.

"Well, Neville, I'm sure we can find a place for you in our ranks," said Voldemort.

"I'd like to say something," Neville interrupted.

"Well, Neville, I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear what you have to say."

"It doesn't matter that Harry's gone," Neville began.

"Standdown, Neville!" Seamus spat.

"People die every day," Neville looked back to them, "Friends, family. Yeah, we lost Harry tonight, but he's still with us, in here," he held his hand to his heart. "So is Ayla, Remus, Tonks, all of them." Desiree felt a tear fall down her cheek at the mention that their lives were lost, especially her mothers.

"She loved you," Draco whispered, tracing circles with his palm on her hand.

"They didn't die in vain. But you will!" Neville turned back to face Voldemort, "Because you're wrong. Harry's heart did beat for us. For all of us! It's not over!" Neville suddenly pulled Gryffindor's sword from the sorting hat. Desiree felt her eyes grow wide and relief rush through her. At the same time, Harry lept from Hagrid's arms. He wasn't dead.

Suddenly, the Death Eaters began disapparating on the spot. They knew it was the end, and they wouldn't be on the winning side. Voldemort began chasing after Harry throwing curses all around.

Draco quickly turned to Desiree, "No matter what happens, I want you to know that I love you, Desiree. Forever."

"I love you, Draco. Forever," Desiree eagerly replied. They knew their time was numbered with the second battle rapidly escalating around them.

"Now, let's end this. So we can finally be happy," said Draco. Desiree nodded, giving one last tight squeeze to his hand, her promise ring dug a mark into his palm.

With this, they began fighting. It didn't take long for them to become separated. Desiree had worry beginning to fester within her for Draco, but, she knew he knew how to fight. Everything was going to be alright.

Just as before, Desiree held her own against the Death Eaters. Only now, she wasn't just fighting for herself. She was fighting for her mother. She was fighting for her future, with Draco.

With a large swarm of Death Eaters gone and the last of the Horcruxes being destroyed, thanks to Neville, things were looking brighter. They actually had a shot at beating Voldemort. And that's exactly what they'd do.

Desiree had just managed to stupefy the Death Eater she had been fighting when she saw Bellatrix Lestrange step to Ginny.

"Ginny," Desiree called out, quickly making her way to Ginny's side.

"Ah, well, if it isn't the Alcyone heir. It's a shame your father hasn't met the same fate as your mother yet," Bellatrix pouted her lip.

"Leave her alone," Ginny glowered, pointing her wand at Bellatrix.

"Ah, so lovely to see the filth of the purebloods stand up for each other. It's so. . .touching," Bellatrix grinned, "Of course, it will lead the two of you to your deaths."

"Not likely," Ginny spat, steadying her wand on Bellatrix. Desiree narrowed her eyes, steadying her wand as well.

"You'll be the first to go then," Bellatrix grinned, throwing a silent spell at Ginny. Luckily Ginny was able to block it in time.

Suddenly, Mrs. Weasley stepped in front of the girls, "Not my daughter, you bitch."

Just as soon as Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix started a vicious duel, Harry emerged into the Great Hall dueling Voldemort. Everyone began lining the walls, watching carefully and eagerly as the duels commenced.

Desiree's eyes scanned the crowd, she saw Pansy standing on the other end of the Great Hall, but there was no sign of Draco or Blaise. All Desiree wanted to do was find him. She needed to know he was alright. She needed to know that she didn't cause the death of the boy she loved.

With a sudden flash of red light emerging from Mrs. Weasley's wand, Bellatrix Lestrange was dead. Harry and Voldemort stopped their duel momentarily to watch as Bellatrix lost her duel. Suddenly, without so much as another blink, flashes of green and red light met in the middle of the room. Ginny grabbed tightly to Desiree's as they watched Harry and Voldemort duel. This would be the end, whether it worked in Harry's favor or not. This was the end.

Everything felt as though it were moving in slow motion. Desiree felt her breath catch whilst watching the red light from Harry's wand slowly begin to overpower the green from Voldemort. He was winning. Desiree squeezed Ginny's arm, holding tighter until, suddenly, the red won. All was silent in the Great Hall while everyone watched Voldemort turn into a fine mist.

Harry won. They won. It was the end.

Desiree could finally be happy with Draco.

With the memory of Draco, Desiree walked out of the Great Hall, looking eagerly around the castle for him. With each empty room and corridor, Desiree felt worry build more and more within her.

Finally, she decided to check in the outside corridor. After all, it was the last place he could be. She walked with clammy hands out of the castle. Her heart was thrumming rapidly. Then, suddenly, she saw the precious platinum blonde hair she had been searching for, standing at the end of the long, outdoor corridor.

"Draco!" she called, quickening her steps.

His head snapped to the side, his eyes brightened, "Ally!"

Their steps quickened as they ran to each other. Smiles painted their faces, despite everything that had been lost, that they had lost. They still had each other. And, that was enough.

Within seconds of being in arms reach of each other, Draco lifted her in his arms, spinning her in a circle as their lips connected. This was their first kiss since the astronomy tower last year, and it finally felt like they were at peace. After everything, they'd been through, they could finally be together.

Their lips felt like smooth honey gliding against each other. Desiree knew Draco Malfoy was the boy she was meant to spend her life with at this moment.

Draco's eyes met hers as they finally pulled back. Desiree's hands cupped his cheeks and a smile grew on her face, "What is it?"

Draco let a small smile leave his lips, his eyes never left hers, "Home."
