Desiree now sat at the Slytherin table in the great hall along with Draco, Pansy, and Blaise. They had been talking about how time was already going by so fast in the year, for it was now the week before Christmas. As Pansy and Blaise slipped into a conversation of their own, Draco turned to Desiree.

"So any plans tomorrow?" asked Draco.

"Well, I'm going to Hogsmeade with Cedric, and I'll probably look for a new book. I finished that other one I read in the common room to you." said Desiree.

"Why are you going with Diggory?" asked Draco.

"Because he asked me and I said yes." said Desiree.

"You didn't want to spend time with us?" asked Draco.

"Well I'm with the three of you all the time. And besides, Pansy and Blaise are going off on their own tomorrow as well." said Desiree.

"Great so now I'm going to be alone tomorrow." said Draco, now getting the attention of Pansy and Blaise.

"Well at least you can go with Crabbe and Goyle." said Pansy.

"Maybe I don't want to spend time with Crabbe and Goyle." said Draco, looking to Desiree before he stormed out of the great hall.

"I swear he acts weirder and weirder everyday." said Desiree, watching the blonde boy she had now been friends with for three years walk out.

"It seemed to be going well lately. Well that was until the two of you fell asleep on the couch." said Blaise.

The next morning Desiree awoke to the feeling of a cold draft in the castle. She then quickly remembered that today was the day that she would be spending the day with Cedric in Hogsmeade. Desiree then jumped out of bed and began to get dressed. She put on a pair of jeans, an emerald colored sweater, and the same necklace she wore everyday since first year. Just as she was walking out of her room she ran into Pansy.

"Oh hey Pansy, I thought you already left." said Desiree.

"I forgot my scarf. It's really cold out there today. Well I guess there is snow on the ground so it makes sense." said Pansy.

"There's snow?" asked Desiree.

"Yeah I saw it at breakfast. But hey isn't it time for you to go meet Cedric?" asked Pansy.

"You're right, I'm almost late." said Desiree, now walking through the Slytherin common room. On the way out she caught Draco's gaze before continuing her way to the main entrance of the castle.

"Oh there you are. I was beginning to think you weren't coming." said Cedric.

"Me not show up? Never." she smiled.

"Shall we?" Cedric smiled, holding out his hand.

Desiree simply smiled as she took his hand. The two then started their journey, with much of hogwarts, to the small village.

"Okay where do you want to go first? Wait don't tell, the book store?" said Cedric.

"How did you know?" asked Desiree sarcastically.

"Just a wild guess I suppose." he laughed. "Now, lead the way."

Desiree guided Cedric into the quaint little bookstore. She browsed the shelves for a bit, but found nothing that was new and exciting, at least at the moment.

"Well this must be a new record." said Cedric.

"What must be?" asked Desiree.

"The shortest time you've ever spent in a bookstore." Cedric laughed.

"Very funny." she smiled, "I just couldn't find anything that looked interesting right now. I'm sure I'll find something next time. Besides, my parents will probably give me a book for Christmas."

"Speaking of Christmas, are you staying here this year?" asked Cedric.

"Yeah I am. Are you?" asked Desiree.

"No, I'm going home this year. Something about there not being much more Christmas' at home until I'm an adult. I don't know it's something my mom said to get me to come home." laughed Cedric.

"I think it's sweet she wants you home. My parents just say as long as I'm happy where I am then they're happy." said Desiree.

"I guess it is kind of sweet isn't it?" Cedric smiled, "Speaking of sweet, do you want to go get some chocolate frogs from Honeydukes."

"Oh you know I do, come on!" said Desiree, dragging Cedric into the warm candyshop.

After buying two chocolate frogs, Desiree and Cedric then made their way into the Three Broomsticks for a Butterbeer. As Desiree sat down in one of the open booths near the rest of the Hogwarts students she saw Pansy and Blaise in their own booth. She gave a quick wave before Cedric returned.

"Is that finally happening?" asked Cedric, motioning his head over to Pansy and Blaise.

"If it isn't now, it's on the way to be." said Desiree.

"It's about time. He's had eyes for her for a while now." said Cedric.

"What do you mean?" asked Desiree.

"Well when a guy fancies a girl, or anyone for that matter, there's a certain way they look at her. Almost like you can just tell he's willing to do anything for her." said Cedric.

"You don't say." said Desiree, smiling as she looked back to her friends.

Once finished with their Butterbeers and talking for ages, Desiree and Cedric began to make their journey back to the castle. That was until Cedric stopped Desiree just about in the same place she had told him about her aunt on the previous trip.

"Cedric? What is it?" asked Desiree.

"I've been trying to find the perfect time to ask you this all day and I kept chickening out. But now is the time." said Cedric.

"Time for what?" asked Desiree.

"Desiree I've fancied you for a while now, and I wasn't sure if you felt the same so I didn't say anything but we've been spending so much time together lately I've just decided to go out on a limb here. And this might seem all of the sudden or even mad to you but the not knowing is going to eat me alive. So I guess what I'm asking you Desiree is will you be my girlfriend?" asked Cedric.

A smile began to grow on Desiree's face, "Of course I will." It was then that all of the confusion she had of if she did or didn't fancy Cedric seemed to fade. Cedric then pulled Desiree into a hug, he picked her up and twirled her around as she stayed in his arms. Smiles were painted on both of their faces.

What Desiree hadn't known was that Draco stood close by, with a bag from the bookstore in his hand. He had seen everything.
